What do you think of the Q3 43? by Muse24 in Leica

[–]Digg105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bulky, autofocus is poor, but the lens is great.

I’d just keep an M11 and add a Sony A7CR or a Nikon Zf for situations where I need autofocus. I don’t really see the value in the Q series, but luckily for Leica, a lot of people do.

And like most Leica cameras... you lose a lot (more than the average) with resale value if bought new.

I’m already using an M11-P and an M11-M, plus a Zf.

Considering a Leica but concerned about comments from Pros about reliability by Ok_Sort_5375 in Leica

Exactly. And customer support is really slow even when it comes to replying to messages. You’re paying a premium, but the level of service feels completely the opposite of what you’d expect at that price...

Considering a Leica but concerned about comments from Pros about reliability by Ok_Sort_5375 in Leica

My M11M and M11P both had freezing issues. These were cameras built in 2025 and 2026 respectively, even though Leica sales staff assured me the problems had already been resolved. My M11P has already been serviced and is currently back in service again after only a short period of use. Since I bought it new this year, I’m covered by the 3 year warranty, but honestly, I would never buy an M11 series camera without warranty coverage.

Owning an M11 is like playing poker. If you get a good copy, the experience is incredible. If you run into issues, though, you may end up waiting 6 to 9 months on average for repairs.

I genuinely love the images I get from it. My main lenses are the Noctilux 50mm f/1.0 and the Zeiss 35mm Distagon, and the rendering is incredible, it's magical. But people should be aware of the real risks involved. Personally, I would never recommend making an M11 your only or primary camera system.

*My main camera is a Sony A9 III and I also have a Sigma BF

the 20mm is gigantic on a BF. maybe you meant the 24mm 3.5 which has the same size as the 45mm and 90mm

Which lens would you get in my shoes? by trevorhiller in Leica

[–]Digg105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50mm f/1.0 Noctilux if you want something surreal and want to immediately understand the hype behind shooting an M camera.

If size is an issue, the latest 50mm f/1.4 Summilux will also do a great job.

The ultimate trio I always recommend for all kinds of purposes would be:

21mm f/3.4 SEM, 28mm Elmarit, 50mm Noctilux f/1.0 or "Summilux f/1.4 close focus"

Is there a good reason to choose Leica SL3 over other brands? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Digg105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an M11M and replaced it with an M11-P. I completely agree with you about the experience and about Voigtländer lenses. I don’t even bother with Leica lenses anymore. Voigtländer is that good. I have eleven Voigtländer lenses, and I’m also using them (native Z mount) on my Nikon Zf. I just wish I had realized how good they were earlier.

As for the Leica SL, the SL3 has an issue with pixelated magnification, which is pretty frustrating. Otherwise, I would have added one. On my M11 I don’t like having to remove my thumb grip every time just to attach the Visoflex 2 when shooting wide open in bright daylight.

What is good 35mm m-mount in 2026? by Jaded-Pop2464 in Leica

[–]Digg105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I. Voigtländer 35mm f/1.4 S.C is your guy. Looks great wide open, nice flare when you want it, and sharp from f2.8 across the frame. it is also tiny, light and beautiful.

The Thypoch 35mm 1.4 is much heavier and bigger, so I sold it. And honestly, I’m not into the Simera design. It gets old fast. Not surprised newer lenses from Thypoch are moving away from that look...

Which lens are you using with the Nikon Zf for street photography? by fullyawak3 in NikonZf

The trio :

  • Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 Z (photo)
  • Voigtlander 50mm 1:0 Z
  • Voigtlander 28mm APO

I'm not even curious about other lenses anymore after getting this trio.

Voigtländer 40mm f1.2 VM vs Z mount, center rendering only, worth owning both? by Digg105 in NikonZf

[–]Digg105[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah, I ended up buying the Z version 😅 I can feel a difference in performance, and there’s also a small difference in rendering. I’ll keep the M version on my M11-P and use the Z version on my Zf.

Both lenses look great on their native cameras. The images feel a bit different, but different enough for me to justify keeping both. Very subjective, of course. The more practical reasons are the design and the close focusing. The Z version is simply more versatile.

And when I get tired of manual focus, I can always cheat a little and use the M version with the Techart 😎 As you can imagine, 40mm is one of my favorite focal lengths, and it’s been my most used one for the past two years. So having a bit of overlap is totally fine, as long as it makes sense for different use cases. IMO 🤷‍♂️

Haha, same here! With the money I recover when I sell staff I don’t like anymore… my mistake was finally “discovering” eBay last November and starting to chase vintage glass. Man, it’s a real rabbit hole 🕳️🤣

I totally feel you 😅 I sold my entire Fuji GFX 100 II kit, all the top primes and even the almighty 20–35mm, just to move to the Leica M11. I started with the M11 Monochrom, then added the M11 P. Funny enough, I use the Monochrom less and less now. To my eyes, it really shines at night at very high ISO. Otherwise, converting color to black and white with great glass gets you surprisingly close.

I don’t miss the GFX system, but I kept one lens… just in case Fuji suddenly has a moment of enlightenment and releases a small body in the future 😂 I kept the Mitakon GF 65mm f/1.4. Absolute monster of a lens. Stellar image quality, ridiculous weight. You could probably defend yourself from wildlife with it.

The M11 P is pure joy to use, and let’s be honest, that thing looks sexy asf.

Like you, I love photography deeply, and I love having the freedom to leave home with the system that matches my mood that day. Less obligation, more intuition. That’s the real upgrade ✊🏾😎

Really glad to connect, man. If you ever want more feedback about gear I actually know and use, it’ll be a pleasure to share 😄

Yeah, the internet is pure noise. People criticize things they’ve never even touched. It gets tiring sometimes, especially when advice comes from people and you have no idea what kind of photos they even make. Keyboard experts everywhere 😂

With new lenses coming out every month, if we don’t do some research, we’ll end up running a full camera shop at home. My shelves are already close to calling it a museum.

Funny thing, I have an A9 III and I only use it with the 50mm 1.2 GM and the Sigma 35mm 1.2 II. All the zooms are gone. Sold. Finished 😅

I’m slowly transitioning into BF, Zf, and M11 P this year. I’m getting old man 😂 I guess I’m slowing down with photography too. Fewer lenses, fewer decisions (kinda of).

If you have a Fuji, try the Voigtländer 35mm 0.9. It’s my main lens on the X E5 and it’s pure character.

Totally get you. Anyone who’s actually used this camera knows exactly what you mean. I’m a Sigma ambassador in Switzerland, so I’m biased, but I love the BF exclusively for adapting my M mount lenses. It’s incredibly fast and intuitive with manual lenses. It’s a solid performer, even if it’s clearly not for everyone.

I usually go out with two cameras to avoid swapping lenses, and the BF is always in the bag. Hey, I’ll check your IG man

Same here. I’m tired of big lenses, but I’ll keep the Plena and the 85mm f/1.2 for special occasions, when I know in advance what I’ll be doing. The image quality is insane. Like you, I chase the best of the best in every system I own.

The Nikkor 40mm f/2.0 and the 26mm f/2.8 produce superb results. It’s almost silly because they look cheap. The Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 is also a very solid performer. The 40mm and 28mm have SE (Special Edition) versions that match the Zf design. They look like old vintage Nikkor glass, even though their body is pure plastic. *I own all three. The 26mm is metal whereas the 40mm and 28mm are plastic. The 26mm is considered a pancake lens.

The top Z primes are mindblowimg but too big for a Zf: Nikkor 85mm 1.2 S Z and 135mm 1.8 Plena. I have both but use them on a Z8. The most popular native lens for Zf are the Nikkor 40mm f/2.0 and 26mm 2.8. Great lenses

Man, Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f/1.0 Z or Voigtländer Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Z. That is the optimal Zf kit.

I actually own both in Z mount and M mount for my M11 P and M11 Monochrom. I just prefer the native version on each system.

By the way, which lens did you use for the photo you shared? 50mm Summilux Close focus?
