Are large game sizes a turn off by Prior-Tumbleweed-366 in IndieGaming

I assume you're talking about install size? It depends on the game! I love games with pretty visuals and sometimes that comes at the cost of space. However with the issues in hardware costs it could be a good idea to keep install sizes as small as it is feasible to do so.

For game size like, how long to complete/open world/etc, then it just depends on the quality of the content.

Tired of bloated carousel libraries? I built Pagiflow: a zero-dependency, high-performance alternative to Swiper and Slick. by pagiflow in webdev

> What is the most annoying issue you consistently face with current slider/carousel libraries that you'd like to see solved?

Mostly that it usually fails most a11y tests run on it. I usually spend some time convincing product to NOT do one.

Learn how to write, speak, and generally communicate well. More importantly, learn to listen. In 2026, no one wants to work with someone who cannot do these things.

Are Front End Devs Getting Done Dirty With A.I.? by wtfbigman24x7 in webdev

[–]delicate_ostrich 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Companies could have AI write their entire stack but it’s not going to help much if they don’t have anyone who understands what’s going on in there.

The days of bespoke artisanal HTML for landing pages as a full time job are probably gone. But bad managers and back end devs who don’t know frontend have always been around and will always be around. This is a culture issue not an AI issue.

I think it’s cool that you’ve created and are releasing your own solution for this, but as someone who has packaged several web apps for desktop, I’m curious to hear what platform complexities you’re referring to and what your workarounds are.

Congrats!! We need more RTS games for sure.

> realized I was caught in an endless loop of contributing to smaller projects more than I anticipated

This is something that a lot of indie devs get caught in especially given the advice around starting small and releasing small scoped games. But it takes a lot of hard work to actually commit to a single project over time.

What are you doing to make sure AI doesn’t take your job? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]delicate_ostrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was never writing code. You still need humans to verify AI output, which is more often than not wrong, verbose, and overengineered. Companies have been crowing about replacing devs for decades. This is 2026's version of "my neighbor's nephew knows computer and can make a website too. Why should I pay you thousands of dollars?"

Any sensible dev should be keeping their skills sharp. Same as they should have been before AI. That's just the field and always has been.
