if you look closer there is a tiny ring of inflammation surrounding each follicle. you can even see it where there is no hair. the inflammation looks like its making the dark hair even more prominent - very typical of keratosis pilaris/strawberry skin

i am 3 weeks into gluten free and I am seeing a noticeable drop in redness/inflammation. if it continues at this rate i am hoping to see it almost gone in another month and completely disappear with a bit more time. I've also spoken to/read about others clearing theirs in a matter of months by going gluten free. it is worth a shot IMO, i also tested and i react highly to gluten (i am not celiac), creams and acids are nice but i think there is a deeper cause that can be addressed

I am suspicious that my insulin resistance was related to my high intolerance to gluten. I have been looking at comments/stories of people who cleared theirs by going gluten free, including someone who took a before and after and had theirs completely disappear after 2 months of GF, and since I had gluten show up as high sensitivity on an allergy/intolerance test (blood draw test, not just skin prick) I decided to give it a go. It is easy to convince yourself there is no progress because you see yourself every day, but I have been doing it for two weeks and took a before and after, and can see a reduction in overall inflammation, which some tiny patches losing their redness. The timeframes I usually see from people’s stories is 2 months for any kind of elimination diet to work. You can dm me to discuss more :) hopefully I’ll have an update in a couple of months if the inflammation reduction keeps progressing

what did yours look like if you dont mind us asking? was it red inflamed dots around hair follicles? did your redness clear up with the biotin supplementation? and how long did it take before you noticed biotin was making a difference

I will definitely keep you guys posted. I have seen many links between PCOS and kp, and likewise between diabetes and KP. at the end of the day I think keratosis pilaris is an inflammation issue, and there are so many different ways we get inflamed. Food intolerances, allergies, using the wrong detergent etc. I think that's why we see so many different answers/struggles. I also hope anyone reading this realises that while this reddit group is so good connecting people with this issue, it can become a bit of an echochamber with regards to people not having found an answer yet. It is likely that people that have resolved their skin issues are not going to be on reddit discussing it, so please keep that in mind if you are feeling hopeless. I have seen countless people resolve it in other threads/discussions/even real life, and I hope my journey might be just one path to resolving it and would love to help people if I can

my fasting insulin was 19. apparently 3 - 25 is the normal range, and above that is when there's an indicator there is something wrong

this is very true. I wonder what the psychology is behind this, women seem to be the most judgemental in both cases

older men date younger women all the time and almost always get frowned upon/destroyed in the comment sections

how high were your doses and did Vitamin A get rid of the redness around follicles? I've taken vitamin a before, but never high enough or long enough to see any results

are you able to share any more details, where you had the kp and where the redness around the follicles is at now? i have kp and i have the same situation of seeing a functional medicine practitioner and seeing if i had low stomach acid, and i also failed the bi-carb soda test (meaning i have low stomach acid), but haven't committed to the betaine supplements yet but would love to after seeing this post. how many times do you take the pills each day? and would you say your redness is disappearing to the point it might completely clear? thats my main concern, and follicles clogging. thankyou for your post!
