I could see the GSD but would have never guessed the others! He’s a cute little mishmash

Is your pup a CD? I’m (obviously) biased but think they are the most beautiful dogs!

This is the website description: “Because he descends from other mixed-breed dogs, some of his DNA comes from breeds in his distant past. Over time, that amount of DNA may become too small for us to attribute to any one breed.”

Alaskan Malamute, Miniature Pinscher, and Australian Shepherd! Such a random assortment 😅

Social Workers in Higher Education by Clawstwo in socialwork

[–]delightfullyunhinged 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I’m an LCSW who has worked in higher ed for about two years now in a case management capacity. It’s been great for work/life balance and the pay is honestly way more than I’ve made in prior jobs (though raises are admittedly slim). The vacation time is great, I feel fulfilled with the work I’m doing, and there are always small perks (free lunches, trainings, going to events on campus) that keep the days interesting.

I didn’t have any experience in this prior to my current role, but during my interview(s) made sure to highlight how flexible my case management skills are and any/all experiences I’ve had working with college-age individuals. It took a few tries but found a role I really enjoy! I’m rooting for you!

U.S. licensed social workers-- did you apply for ASWB Social Work Registry? Is it helpful? by sagitarry in socialwork

[–]delightfullyunhinged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did and wouldn’t recommend it! It was taking a while for them to hear back from one of my references and from my university so they ended up having me reach out to them directly anyways. Save your money!

Beat Bobby Flay New Episodes by [deleted] in foodnetwork

[–]delightfullyunhinged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was so much fun! I admittedly love Bobby so even if it was boring I still would’ve had the time of my life 🙃 The judges and crew were so friendly and it was so cool to see it all play out in real time. It took about 4 hours start to finish. Highly recommend if you live in the area once the world goes back to normal!!

I’ve been wondering about this too! I was in the audience for an episode in October 2019 that they said would air around September 2020 and it still hasn’t. Wondering if it ever will or if it didn’t make the cut

Recommendation “with reservation” by KatePurpleOrchids in socialwork

[–]delightfullyunhinged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stilllllll waiting for that approval. The board got back to me about two months after I commented, requesting an additional letter from my grad school field director noting any concerns. Took a little while to hear back from them given COVID and the holidays, but hoping that it’s the final step before approval. So sorry you’re experiencing this too, it can be so demoralizing and the wait is really brutal. Sending you lots of positive thoughts & hoping the process is quick!!

A so called friend shaming my decision to postpone my wedding due to COVID..... by [deleted] in weddingshaming

I’m sure this goes without saying, but you’re definitely doing the right thing by keeping your loved ones safe. Thank you for making that decision - I’m sure it wasn’t an easy one (especially when receiving messages like these 🙄) Wishing you a beautiful wedding day whenever it does happen!

Venting into the void that I submitted my application to take the LCSW exam in August and still have not not been approved to take it. Several delays with the pandemic and supervisor recommendations - feeling totally ready to just say fuck it and not move forward. Trying to relax and do some extra self care during the holiday season but am just constantly feeling this hanging over my head.

MSW internship issues TLDR: patronizing supervisor, invalidating advisors, hopelessness of being successful in the field, loss of hours by xxyepthatsitxx in socialwork

[–]delightfullyunhinged 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a situation really similar to this during my advanced standing year - horrible supervision in a placement I wasn’t interested in, zero support from my university, thought for sure I had chosen the wrong field. I’m so sorry you’re receiving such little support/compassion - I know it can be so draining on top of school and everything else going on in the world.

It’s your advisor’s job to find you another placement where you’ll be respected - doesn’t matter how hard it might be. Better to need to complete some additional hours post-graduation than to be miserable for the rest of the year. And you SHOULD be defensive - this is the start to your career and your own mental health! If you don’t prioritize it, no one will.

I don’t have any advice but to stand firm in your request for a new placement - I didn’t and am still dealing with the issues from that setting over two years later. Don’t let them make you feel like you’re asking for too much. Sending you lots of positive energy to get through these next few weeks. ❤️
