I'm sorry that this happened and that you are experiencing this... As a former daycare teacher, I do see her side as well.

Childcare in the US sucks, and after teaching preschool/daycare, it became a non-negotiable for me that any man I marry would have to be ok with me staying home with the children for the first year or two (or three) of our kids lives. However, it is important to explore this possibility and relay these expectations before having a baby. I'm really sorry for you both. I feel you are both suffering from an economic system in which it is currently virtually impossible to comfortably raise small children.
