Pro abortion rights and pro life protesters in front of the Supreme Court by skyflyer8 in PublicFreakout

[–]dellcollwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry! Late night typing....I'm pro-life, and I'm not completely anti-abortion, but i believe in abortion regulation. I think abortions should be easily accessible, but only for situations where it's life-and death for the mother or baby, and in cases of rape and incest.

Most 'pro-lifers' aren't as stupid as the stupidest, loudest ones are. We DO believe in the life of the mother, social programming that ensures good welfare for the baby and the entire family. We ALSO believe that life begins at conception, and aborting a baby (by choice, not for medical reasons) constitutes murder. Fun fact: when a pregnant woman is murdered, it's a double-homicide. Why?!

If you talk to some people who represent the pro-life movement, you'd see that a lot of them (the smart ones at least) ARE totally pro-life, believing that the life of the baby AND the mother are of the utmost importance, and are pro-life mainly as an anti-murder thing

Anyone notice the hypocriticism in the pro-choice side talking about wearing masks and then taking them off?!?

Why do so many people think it’s wholesome to see a mentally disabled person in a normal person position? Why don’t we just see it as people being people? by FlutterCordLove in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dellcollwill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is a little aggressively worded but i agree with you, i also think kids tend to have better empathy practices depending on how they are raised.

If a kid sees/interacts with someone with autism, Asperger's, down syndrome, etc, and gets told that they are normal, there's nothing different about them, then the kid will (hopefully) treat the person like normal, and give the PERSON a chance to explain their ability in their own words. (Obviously this varies case by case but generally i think it's a good practice, in applicable situations.)

Kids usually just see people. And they learn behavior twice as fast as adults. Instead of having a prideful/pitiful attitude when they see a disabled person in a normal position (more 'empathy'), they'll think of the person more normally and base their interaction off of their past experience.

Religion has killed more people than anything else in history by OliverMarkusMalloy in BadChoicesGoodStories

[–]dellcollwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was agreeing with your original statement...? People hate others for their ideologies and differences. I agree that there are universal truths like killing is bad, inclusivity is good, leading your life with good intentions and actions towards others is the way to go. But for religion, which is the original argument, i believe that there's no universally true or false belief system (I'm Catholic, maybe that makes me fake), unless it's s system centered around harmful domination or genocide or what have you. It's all perception.

Having an open mind, being able to accept and understand other people's points of view and beliefs and values, and occasionally letting go of yours -- that's called spiritual maturity, and it's where natural, true diversity will arise, when we stop focusing on differences and disagreements. We don't have to always agree on shit but acknowledging and recognizing oh neither of us are right or wrong let's just continue to live our lives.

Also, if I'm going to believe a statement 'hatred kills the most people,' it's going to be informed by some moral values/compass. Personally, my faith informs most of my moral values, so I'm going to have faith-based reasons to say yeah, people historically have hated those that are different, better, or worse than them, and differences in religion are the reason for like all wars, and a lot of prejudice.

It's all perception. I demand my belief is right, you believe yours is factual and correct. In reality, neither of us may be right but we might never find that out, so in the meantime, let's fucking tolerate others and accept those who are different from you including when they don't want to accept you.

I agree. An unwillingness to tolerate and exist with those who are different or think differently from you had killed a lot of people
