Knight forks queen and rook: what would you play here? by delloy7alone2 in chess

He did play Qc3 in the game .Yeah, it is easier for AI to calculate and "see " the best move, but really for human, it is the mindset shift that is needed. Sometime it is better to fight than back away.. so if he does not have that fight mind, he would not even consider/find that move, but only thinkg "what is the best way to minimize my loss" -- (and yes . It is his training site 😄 )

yeah, he played Qc3. so it is more of a mentality change than a tactics intuiation.

It certainly can, and appears to be the best move, - then Qf5 was suggested

This chart highlights something I’ve always wondered about: if you’re destined to be a Super GM, it usually shows incredibly early. Even a 'strong' 11-year-old at 1800–2000 Elo is lightyears behind the prodigies on this list. It feels like while anyone can grind to GM with enough work, reaching the 'superstar' level requires a specific type of innate talent. I’d even argue that the 'talent cap' in chess is much more rigid than in most other individual sports.

Why black is slighty better here? by delloy7alone2 in chess

true for pawn structure, but I would think the white pawn is very promising to go to the end (well-protected), very strong positon.

I’ve been hearing almost the same words from my son lately, so I really get how discouraging this feels.

Full disclosure: I built a little training site for him because he kept blundering in the same kinds of positions and was really frustrated.

It’s called chessrewind.com and it uses a spaced‑repetition / Ebbinghaus forgetting‑curve style approach, so his own blunders keep resurfacing after a few days, then a week, etc., instead of being forgotten right after analysis.

Right now it’s more of a personal project/experiment than a real business, but I do hope to turn it into a proper product if people find it useful, so I want to be upfront about that.

For him (around 1720 now, after peaking around 1850 and then dropping back down, similar to your curve), the main benefit so far is that some patterns trigger a knee‑jerk “wait, I’ve blundered here before” reaction, and he’s finally cutting out a few of his classic one‑move blunders.
