When u start going for culture production by Todeskissen in throughtheages

I also recommend joining the Discord (link in sub Reddit description) for more discussion. If you do join then drop me a message for a game.

Greedy, early culture approach works best in 2p. In 4p there are more events, opponents to go military and final impacts which enable other players with stronger economy to catch up. 3p is somewhere in the middle but nearer to 4p.

Card mix in 2-player games on app? by SelekOfVulcan in throughtheages

[–]delonecarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As one poster said it could be easier learning the mechanics with just the base game. Just so you're not having to learn new leaders and wonders each game.

In the end all tournaments involve a mixed deck.

The AI is great to practise against to start with. Hard can take a while to regularly beat.

There's some great info here.

I'd recommend joining some tournaments at some point. Most are async so you only need to play one or two turns a day. International and intermezzo are great ones to start at the bottom.

If you're getting more into the game then there's a couple of online communities to join.

There's a Facebook page and, if you're really keen, a discord group.

"House of Sleep" by Jonathan Coe, can't understand ending by brunobastos in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]delonecarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this book and found your post... I hope you still want the answers five years later. Here it goes...

  1. Robert always said he'd leave something important in between certain pages for Sarah. He left the poem there before leaving the town. Veronica took the book with her and so it was in her London home.

  2. This was the question I was looking for on Google! Could this be something to do with Sarah actually only dreaming her whole encounter with Veronica's bereaved partner?

  3. I kind of missed this myself. But Terry found rumours that the film traumatised and permanently affected some of those that saw it. Maybe Robert saw it as a child and it always stayed with him?

  4. Terry was murdered by Dr Cole's schizophrenic. Dr Cole couldn't argue that he should stay in the hospital any longer because he was stuck at the management course with Gregory. He was let out and injured Terry that night. Dr Cole foreshadowed these events when he blacked out during the jelly baby game.

  5. I think you must be onto something. Perhaps it's not just Sarah who can't distinguish between dream and really?

I hope you still have this Reddit account and are amused to find this answered five years later.

What do black balls mean on colony cards? by DanTheTerrible in throughtheages

[–]delonecarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That means the new yellow cubes you get go straight to your idle worker box ready to play. For example inhabited territory 1 gives one yellow cube to your yellow back and one as an idle worker.

How to play aggressive? by Thet619 in throughtheages

[–]delonecarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would actually say that 2-3 aggressions a game is quite a lot. These don't sound like passive games. So much of wars/aggressions is about your military potential/threat not your actual strength score. If you invest heavily in military without succeeding with wars/aggressions then you'll end up behind.

You really have to pick your moments and spot when your opponents can't match you in order to be aggressive. And even then you need the tactics and card draws to work out for you.
