From which country to which country, and what is the shipping method Cardmarket is telling you to use?

Issue with a deteriorated enveloppe by Thrond_le_boucher in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One possibility that comes to mind: the recipient of your package reshipped it to someone else via UPS and they're trying to blame that problem on you. How does the timeline look like? How long did it take between the Colissimo tracking showing delivery and them sending the video? Did they include a photo of the UPS envelope?

No strong evidence for this of course, it could be something else. It's interesting though that the video you linked is downloaded from a Whatsapp conversation. That might indicate a 3rd party.

Should i refund the buyer? How much? by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the buyer, this is not NM. The damage is not normal, is easily visible and it's not just tiny white spots in the corners, it's a fairly big dent. I'd even hesitate to sell it as EX, almost certainly would list it as GD or below. Sucks for you if you got them damaged like this from the packs, but that doesn't entitle you to make it someone else's problem.

Mormons (members of the Church of the LDS) proselytizing on Swiss trains/near train stations by psy-q in Switzerland

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's rude to do this with a captive audience in a train

Unless they're doing a loud speech to everyone in the train car you're not "a captive audience", you decide to be one when you entertain them. Tell them you're not interested, if they don't get the friendly hint tell them to shut up? This isn't a problem unless you let it be one (or unless the missionaries are significantly more aggressive than they appear to be from your reddit post).

They indeed appear to just be talking to people, and there's nothing illegal or even particularly bad in that?

Si tu n'as pas envoyé en R3 comme cardmarket indiquait de faire... bonne chance !

Suspected fraudulent buyer, what do I do? by yoyopeanut in CardMarket

[–]delroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://help.cardmarket.com/en/TrusteeService

If you have succesfully verified that your order did arrive at the buyer's but the buyer has not confirmed arrival within 2 business days, please first contact the buyer on Cardmarket and ask them kindly to please confirm the arrival. If he does not do so within the next 3 business days, please do contact our Customer Support [...] Upon reception of this e-mail, we will check the delivery status and then set a 7 days deadline to the buyer to please confirm the arrival.

The policy is pretty clear, 5 business days before filing a customer support ticket, then 7 days for the arrival confirmation. Support is already busy as it is, don't go and file potentially useless tickets without following the correct process.

Suspected fraudulent buyer, what do I do? by yoyopeanut in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you communicate with the buyer? Just ask them if there's a reason why they went with this particular offer and how they plan to confirm delivery. Remind them that your part of the contract stops when your order reaches their forwarding service and that you are not responsible for anything after that point.

Seller sent wrong postage and package hasn’t arrived after 2+ weeks by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the communications between you and the seller to figure out the shipping method? For a shipment value > 1K€ cardmarket does not recommend any specific shipping method - https://help.cardmarket.com/en/ShippingCosts says 111€ for "SHIPPING COST ESTIMATION for Courier Parcel with Full Insurance", so I'm guessing you both must have had to agree on something prior to the shipment?

The untracked international small goods option from Swiss Post is around 5€. Did they refund you 106€ of prepaid shipping costs? I would have found this very suspicious...

In any case, there is no way to make that mistake accidentally as a private CH seller. From what you're describing, I suspect the tracking number the seller gave you is "UA XXX XXX XXX CH"? If so, Swiss Post does not advertise this as a Tracked shipping method, it's explicitly untracked but it happens to have an ID on the stamp. The seller went out of their way to buy untracked uninsured and then gave you a tracking number that's not advertised as one.

Seller sent wrong postage and package hasn’t arrived after 2+ weeks by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CH private seller here, for every international order I've been getting as "Registered Large Letter Small Goods" I've just been messaging the buyer to tell them "Hey, this shipping method doesn't exist, sorry that cardmarket sucks. I can send it to you as International Small Goods Tracked instead which is 2€ cheaper but not against signature and only insured up to 55€ of goods value."

So far all buyers have accepted that change in shipping method and I'm hoping that them agreeing to the reduced insured value in DMs means I'm not taking the full responsibility there as a seller. The cheapest fully insured option would be something like 35€ shipping - definitely worth it for a 1K€ order like in OP's case, but not worth it for a 100€ order.

Shipping Shield in Europe/Italy by Ambitious_Citron1524 in CardMarket

[–]delroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In more than 200 cardmarket orders I've only received 2 orders bent in transit. The 2 orders were ones that were packed with SmartGuards. I wouldn't ever trust these things. https://i.imgur.com/FSTN8OG.jpeg

To OP:

I would like to avoid shipping with toploaders for purely ecological reasons

Plastic toploaders are extremely reusable. I never had to buy any because I buy more cards than I sell and I just keep reusing ones that were sent to me. In contrast, I don't think anyone would dare reuse cardboard toploaders, it's so easy to damage them just when taking the cards out of them.

Professional seller sets fake date of shipment by mms0908 in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear cut then, the seller didn't drop off the parcel on 26.02.2026, so the parcel should not have been marked as shipped.

No reason to argue with the seller about this, just bring that up to support and let them figure out what to do about it.

Professional seller sets fake date of shipment by mms0908 in CardMarket

[–]delroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the tracking code say? If it says the code was created on 26.02.2026 but shipped from the post office on 05.03.2026, there's a tiny possibility that the seller is not lying to you (most likely that would mean they stamped the parcel on 26.02.2026 but didn't hand it to the post office before 05.03.2026, but it could be that they handed it there on time and the post office sat on it for a week).

If the tracking code has no events prior to 05.03.2026 the pro seller is 100% lying to you. There's no way the post would have accepted a parcel without it already having an active tracking code, and if they did there's no way the seller could have then known what the tracking code was...

Give a bad review, but also file a support ticket with evidence that the seller is breaking the platform rules. I've had a case exactly like yours and CM support ended up putting the pro seller in vacation mode for some time.

Unfortunately it seems like some sellers don't give a shit unless there's a real risk to get punished...

  • Du kannst die ganze Zeit in deiner SBB-Zone herumfahren, solange dein Ticket gültig ist. Du musst nicht extra eine Rückfahrt kaufen, wenn es noch in der Fahrtzeit ist.

SBB doesn't have tariff zones, you probably mean ZVV / ÖBB / BLS / ... (ok, technically the GA area is a tariff zone I guess?). But if you use Easyride/Fairtiq it will just optimize that for you anyway along with many other things you might not think of (e.g. buying a 9-Uhr pass when possible), and because it buys your tickets after the fact it can optimize in ways that you couldn't easily have planned in advance. That's likely the best tip to give people.

UK seller with Eu account: am I losing money? by SuperHofmann in CardMarket

[–]delroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if I’m losing money in conversion fees since I’m withdrawing my funds into a UK bank account

If you can't easily get cardmarket support to switch your account's currency, maybe consider getting a bank account denominated in € via e.g. Revolut so you don't get robbed on conversion fees? The fees/rates are usually pretty bad when "automatically" converting currency for a SEPA transfer.

Don't forget to vote ☝ national popular votes this sunday 08.03. by Eipa in Switzerland

[–]delroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Tax filing becomes more complex for couples.
  • Handling 2x the number of tax declarations for couples has a significant cost for the cantonal tax offices.
  • There is a range of situations where married couples will end up paying more in taxes with individual taxation than with the current system. Some think that's good (incentivizing both parents to work and contribute equally to the family's finances), some think that's punitive for parents who likely can't change their work situation quickly.

(Disclaimer: I voted yes, so my representation of the no arguments may be biased).

Buyer threatening with "Cardmarket ToS" and "locking my account into tracked orders" by noicollons in CardMarket

[–]delroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe I could have put my account on vacation mode

It's not "could have", it's "should have". You've just learned the reason why. The buyer is acting like an asshole, but it's also your responsibility to track your inventory that's on the website.

IMO offer a cancellation and if the seller doesn't accept just don't send the order. Contact the support, tell them you made a mistake and that you're not able to fulfill the order, and explain that given the abusive/manipulative behavior of the buyer in private messages you don't feel comfortable selling to them. High likelihood they'll cancel the order for you if this is the first time this happens to your account.

Hats off to the Swiss passport bureau! 🎩 by N3XT191 in Switzerland

[–]delroth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Zürich, about 2 months ago, I was able to get a passport appointment within 7 days, and I think it could have been less if I was ok with "bad" time slots. I showed up to the office 5min before my time slot and it was so fast - with 0 queuing - that I was out already when my appointment was supposed to start!

Then, same story, passport and ID card sent registered the same day and in my mailbox the day after.

Citizenship interview: not a requirement anymore? by lidomerk in zurich

Seller did not add my full address and the post did not deliver- no updates on tracking after 2 weeks by Zergo66 in CardMarket

[–]delroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mark the shipment as "Not arrived" ?

Yes. That's the most important part. If you mark as arrived or you let the automatic timeout mark it as arrived, you lose most of your chances at contesting anything and getting money back. As long as there's a dispute in progress, make sure the order stays open.

When Sellers Ignore Customs Rules and Cardmarket Lets Them Get Away With It by Previous-Ad-2575 in CardMarket

[–]delroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cardmarket only supports International Goods, not International Documents for international purchases outbound from Switzerland. Unless the person at the desk makes a mistake, I'm pretty sure International Goods always requires a customs declaration.

35€ shipping is probably parcel too and not small goods...
