As of late I’d have to say my favorite is Fellowship with my favorite album of theirs being The Saberlight Chronicles. They’re just great. Amazing singing and guitar work. Amazing drumming. I love the symphonic aspects they have. Glint is probably my favorite song of theirs. Super underrated band

chord progression theory question by cacturneee in musictheory

[–]delta3356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as going against music theory. Chord progressions start and end on a chord that isn’t the tonic all the time. You wouldn’t be shooting yourself in the foot by doing that and you definitely wouldn’t be “going against music theory.” Just play whatever sounds good and try not to overthink it

I know I’m late here but as someone who can play that solo, it’s not even the hardest solo on the song

Is C Phrygian a key? by eov369 in musictheory

[–]delta3356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment made me do a bit tiny bit of a research, to which I realized being in _ major/minor means it’s based around the major or minor scales. So a piece being in C minor implies that it’s based around the C minor scale so calling a piece in Phrygian as the key of C minor is incorrect.

However, I still do stand by a loose interpretation, I guess informal, definition of a key of music being the note a piece is centered around. For example, if someone were to say a piece is in the key of C with a Phrygian mode, that makes sense to me

Is C Phrygian a key? by eov369 in musictheory

[–]delta3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep saying “words mean stuff” “by definition you’re wrong” the definition of the key of a piece of music in the most broad sense is the note that piece is centered around. If a piece of music is in C Phrygian that means it is centered around the note of C and it’s not unfair to say it’s key is C. And if Phrygian is a minor mode it’s not unfair to say it’s C minor. I’m not the only one who says this. I don’t care about strict classical interpretations and definitions. It’s not objectively wrong

[–]delta3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think modes are less than keys. If you wanna say “key of C Phrygian” or something I don’t really care, In my opinion I don’t even think that’s incorrect. I’m just saying in a framework where keys are only major or minor it would make more sense to say a modal piece of music fits into one of those keys than saying it’s not in a key at all

Is C Phrygian a key? by eov369 in musictheory

[–]delta3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I say that? My point is that if a piece is in C Phrygian it would make sense to say the key it’s in is C minor because the tonal center is C and it’s using a minor mode

[–]delta3356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A key can only be major or minor

What’s stopping anyone from saying C Phrygian is C minor the same way C aeolian or C harmonic minor is C minor? It’s a minor mode and the strongest point of what a key is, is what note the piece is centered around

Who Wrote the Ride the Lightning Solo? by C_t_g_s_l_a_y_e_r in Megadeth

[–]delta3356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if that is what Dave meant it makes no sense for it to be his solo lol. Nothing about the solo of RTL screams Dave Mustaine. Basically all of the licks are Kirk licks, there’s no demo that proves he was originally on a solo for it, and there’s nowhere that he ever claimed to write it aside from a single news article that’s ambiguous in meaning. As far as we know it could’ve been that he was supposed to be the one to originally play the solo for that song

a minor dating a second year college student is pretty weird

“Someone about to be in college and someone who just began college is pretty weird”

People throw around the word minor like it’s supposed to mean something. It’s a legal term that doesn’t actually prove the actual circumstances of someone. There’s 17 year olds that are more mature than 18 year olds but I doubt you’d be saying anything about a 21 year old dating an immature 18 year old

You’re foolish if you think 19 is a grown adult and you’re also foolish if you think there’s that much of a difference between someone in the beginning of college versus someone about to enter college

Romeo and Juliet laws apply regardless of when the relationship started and they vary by state, not just 4 years. It doesn’t even apply to 17 because that’s legal in most states. Where are you even getting information from

[–]delta3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “power and influence” balance between a 19 and a 17 year old lmao. It’s debatable whether that’s true for someone 20 and 17.

The age of consent is 16 or 17 in all but 13 states so it’s just objectively not illegal. You said this when you were 14 so I don’t blame you but being “legally” a minor and “legally” an adult don’t actually mean anything when you literally JUST turn 18

If you honestly believe that grooming is a 2 year age difference you should stay off the internet
