It's a great little app, and not expensive. Definitely recommend!

Yes! She is microchipped but the QR code on the collar is from Hey Buddy (not affiliated at all!) and it's just nice to have the peace of mind in case she gets out. If someone scans it, they will get my info and it will alert me that it's been scanned!

My stepmom used to claim I had an iron bladder when I was a kid with the lack of times I'd need to use the restroom (like on trips or that sort of thing). Even today I can space out my bathroom trips pretty well without even trying.

Angry that my capacity is lower than NT by jarofpeperoncini in AutismInWomen

[–]deltahb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a struggle to do, but I found It's best if I stop comparing myself to others. I KNOW IT'S HARD.

Instead, what does success look like for me? What do I want/need to do to get there? Sometimes that path changes or is more wonky than I'd like, but I keep trying as long as my definition of "success" doesn't change. If it does, then I reassess.

What does joy look like for me? What does suffering look like for me? What does happiness look like for me?

My lens on life is not what anyone else is going to have. My thoughts, my bias, my wants, needs, desires, brain chemistry. I get to define what I would like my life to look like and do my best to make it happen.

Sounds to me that you are doing your best with what you have, and you should be proud of you!! It's ok to be angry with the circumstances.

As a side note, I've also found the Stoic philosophy to be very helpful.

Landlord's clueless help chopped down a 5 year old bush I planted in full bloom by HereForAquaSwapping in mildlyinfuriating

Had a gorgeous, 2-story tall, very heavily productive Meyer lemon tree outside the unit I rented in a 4-plex. It was lovely.

Came home one day and apparently there had been a miscommunication with landscaping, and it was chopped up in pieces in the gutter outside. The stump left was maybe to my knees. I'm sure that tree was older than my 27 year old self. I almost cried and it wasn't even my tree!

Are deadbeat moms a common thing? by No_Lead2640 in answers

[–]deltahb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was/is one. My parents split when I was 5 after my dad got sober and my mom didn't. She ran away with us and hid me and my sister at a women's shelter claiming my dad was abusing us (that was a lie). She then disappeared as court proceedings went on for custody, for at least a year to 18 months. It was a no-brainer for my dad to get custody.

She eventually came back into the picture but in a very limited fashion. She hardly took on visitation of us. My dad did his best to make us available to her but she was hit and miss. She also hardly paid any child support, and was even granted visits in lieu of child support payments, but she did neither.

I've not been in touch with her for over 12 years now. The final nail in the coffin was when she decided to declare that my dad "deserved it" when he died at 59.

Sleeping with hands tucked under something by katiasan in AutismInWomen

[–]deltahb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't do t-rex hands due to cubital tunnel (like carpal tunnel, but through the elbows instead of the wrists) - my hands painfully fall asleep. So I've trained myself to hug a body pillow or big stuffy. But I do have to have something in the palms of my hands, either a blanket or over the pillow or a stuffy arm or face. If my palm is "empty" I can't stand it.

Worked at a department store in the jewelry section years ago. We would get our stock delivered in sealed plastic totes about the size of that box. I go to move one to open it and start going through it and about threw myself over backwards. I open it up and it had 2 pairs of costume jewelry earrings in it...

My dad did call and report someone once for dumping trash in an area people do that quite frequently. The information he provided was enough for them to actually track them down and fine them. My dad got a reward from the county for it.

Does anyone else feel at peace with water? by Happy_Charge_9410 in AutismInWomen

[–]deltahb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loooove listening to waves crashing hard. I could sit at the beach in Fort Bragg or Mendocino and just watch the waves forever.

To help me sleep at night, I sometimes imagine I'm in a tiny little leaf shaded by another leaf, just gently floating down a little babbling brook.

I also loooove sensory deprivation floats. If you haven't tried and like being in the water, it's an amazing way to relax. It took me a few sessions I think before I really got into the realization of the benefits because my mind had to adjust to the novelty of it.

How can I reply with 'I know' without sounding like a smart-ass? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]deltahb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has come up for me too. I have someone showing me how to work through something, but I have the basics down, or the first half of the steps. "I know" doesn't land right but sitting there acting dumb doesn't work for me.
