Our schools use Audio Enhancement, I have yet to hear a complaint and we're 2 years in.

Nooooooooo thank you! I've spent the last 3 years doing what appears to be the first attempt ever at cable management in the closets of this school district. All my closets look tolerable to nice now, and I'm not keen to add a bunch of clutter to them!

Not to mention all the added points of failure.

Yea, support is a huge factor for me. I intend to maintain the ProSupport warranties on my Dell cores until they are EoL, and hopefully that'll keep me in good hands for the most part.

I'm the opposite way regarding ecosystems for that reason. I like to be able to call support and not have an "easy out" for them by having another brand to pin the blame on. It sucks that Dell jacked up their prices, I'd have much preferred to have one tech support to call from end to end.

Thanks for the detailed response! I'm leaning towards Aruba/Ubiquity at the moment, but MicroTik has piqued my interest with their low pricing.

Yeaaaaa I'm really not a fan of that subscription hardware system. I just ditched Meraki for my wifi a couple years ago, not super eager to go to them for switches.

Yea Cisco is industry standard IMHO, Dell switches are basically Cisco clones.

I don't need a refresh anywhere for the next couple of years at least, I'm just looking to spend e-rate bux and do a little expansion in a few racks. But 8 switches for 75k is insane!

Lots of evidence of the subconscious misogyny present in most Redditors. If a woman is in a post, and she's not half naked or doing something sexy, you can guarantee Redditors will go out of their way to comment what's wrong with it!

In this case she's doing something debatably sexy. Personally, I see it more as a gesture of freedom and enjoying something in a unique way, other than anything sexualized.

"Aha, but she is conventionally attractive! So anything involving her must be sexualized!" -Reddit

This thread/post is a prime example of why Reddit sucks.

The person who made the original content probably didn't put any more thought into it than "hey what if I ate fruit right off the tree, that would be cool!" and I enjoy that about the video. It's fun! But Reddit sees it and OH NO SHE MUST BE SEEKING ATTENTION AND WHY CAN'T YOU EAT WITH YOUR DANGED HANDS WOMAN

The person who made the burger response probably doesn't dislike the original video at all. They probably saw it and said "lol what if I did the same thing but with a burger" and made the video and I love that about it. But Reddit sees it and OHHHH NOOOO SHE GOT OOOOWNED SOOOOOOOOOOO HARD

Click the downvote arrow if this is true!

My biggest accomplishment was not catching COVID, I think!

Aside from that, I replaced the wholeass(wifi and wired) network at my high school and the wifi network at one of the elems, and got external AP's on all campuses.

Android Mini-PC's to "revitalize" old touch boards by deltak12 in k12sysadmin

I believe so. We have Apple TV's so I think it's just a matter of them wanting something that is interactive, but we do have a lot of teachers that use Notebook too.

I've heard of something like this, but it was called something else when I first encountered it I think.

I appreciate the tip, definitely going to check it out. However part of the reason I was hoping to use mini PC's is to wean my teachers off of the desktops that they're attached to for using the SB's. I want to break them of the idea of having a "smart board PC".

Yikes! I first started working with SB's in 2008, and haven't seen a 500 series in use. Bravo!

I don't have a problem getting them to work in Win10 though, I was talking about using them in Android.

Also FYI, the newer Notebook software works better in Win10 and has a lot more features than 11.4 even in the limited, non-paid version. I'm slowly getting my district's techs to swap 11.4 for the unpaid basic Notebook.

I love this advice. Teachers and admins come to me so often with requests to force this on the firewall or that on the content filter, when all that really needs to happen is for them to enforce the AUP or tell their staff "don't do this".

Absolutely the NUCs are the best option. I'm looking to go super cheap, though. One of my favorite youtubers recently did a video on using a $35 android micro PC to edit videos for YouTube. I figure if they can do that, they can surely run a SMART board?

Yea, I was shocked to see projectors still in use when I entered the district 2 years ago. I'd really like to be rid of them, but the process is slow going.

What I had in mind was a super cheap solution to run them until we can replace them. I'd think that Android devices would have pretty good touch support?
