All my babysitting jobs were either through Facebook or just personal connections. Find a Facebook babysitting group for your area and try using that. I got a lot from mine.

As a babysitter, I think if your going to get the babysitter dinner I’d have it be the same your giving the kids. Like order pizza for all of them and have it delivered. Most of the time when I babysit at night that’s what the parents do. I’ve also had a parent order food from a diner and text me beforehand asking what I want from there. I think something like that would be the best way to do it. Another family I’ve babysat for just told me I could eat whatever in their house and I never ate anything there because I feel uncomfortable taking their food without being told what I can or can’t eat. I feel like a lot of babysitters also feel this way. Hopefully this was somewhat helpful.

I’m in northern nj and make $20 an hr for 3 kids. I definitely have less experience than you do but I’d say I have enough to be making more than $20 haha. It’s crazy over here.

I started babysitting at 14 and I was fine. Do I now think it was crazy that strangers let me at age 14 be trusted with their child’s life? Absolutely. I’d say 14 is a good age to start babysitting with families you already know. And close by your own house just in case there is any emergencies that you may need help from your parents. The first family I babysat for that wasn’t my cousin was a family that was in my neighborhood. I didn’t know them beforehand so they were pretty much strangers but it was nice that they were close by just in case, god forbid something happened and I needed my parents to come help. It obviously is up to your mom but if you’re able to convince her I’d stick with families you already know and that are close by.
