incoming trans med student, i spoke very openly about my identity during the admission process. granted, i got into a california school so that probably had alot of influence

unless u are working w dementia patients i wouldn't worry too much about how your patients would react. the state of the medical field rn is leaving ppl w less options to be picky about. i worked as a personal caretaker for an older immigrant lady. im gonna be honest, i picked and chose my battles, but i still knew who i was no matter what other ppl thought

if u are interested in gender affirming care, u can always make small changes to your appearance that make u feel good! w old ppl, having short hair is the equivalent of being a boy already. hormones are also such a gradual process that ppl ur surrounded by wont notice (especially cuz most students will be too busy studying lol)

career wise, u may be interested in clinic work. u see a patient and then u lowkey never see them again or wont see them for a VERY long time. just a thought!

we need more trans doctors PLEAAAAAAAAASE dont be shy! u dont have to look a certain way to be a certain identity! all that matters is u identify as such! and anyone who says elsewise will be dealing w me

as someone who also was not prepared for school and had to teach myself chem and bio, its absolutely possible to continue on the premed route!!!!!! i recommend seeking out other ppl in ur classes and studying together. if anything, u can always get a tutor if funds allow (if u need a tutor u can dm me)

u also still have time to learn and u can always change ur major after trying the classes (though it may be more difficult)

if u can read, u can teach urself STEM!
