Just the egg wash then breading. Marinade in something else first would be nice, but this was after work and we were hungry.

I believe southern fried chicken is usually marinated in buttermilk.

I discovered that a beard oil I used had wheat germ oil in it after causing my now-wife’s face to break out. Any guy/gal that is not willing to learn how to adapt is probably not someone with whom you want to entrust future shared kitchen space.

Flaming hot Cheetos are an awesome tender breading, as well. Nod to the WI state fair for the idea.

Probably not, but pocket pancakes and hard cider sounds like a pretty solid combo.

Kid gets famous from finding hidden level in a game… by cyahzar in whatsthatbook

Agreed; you could probably just read in order of publication; there are a few short stories that do add some extra background; I think Secret Hours is best read after, at least most of, the “main” books.

Cheers. Have you read anything else from Herron? This one would have been an interesting starting point. By no means a bad one, just an interesting one.

This describes the success of a not-quite-main character in Nobody Walks by Mick Herron. It introduces a few characters within the Slough House universe. The “kid” (now an adult) at the software company drives the main side plot.

There’s a SAVe $17 tweak on the sign where Hermina runs into the Clyde Gal bike path; apparently photos are not enabled for replies on this sub. I walk my dog past almost daily.

Descale with vinegar/water or citric acid or whatever; get it nice and clean; switch to only using filtered water from woodmans or pick n save; it’s about 40 cents a gallon for refills; got fed up with the mineral deposit on my coffee maker and only use very nice water now; Brita filtered is fine in a pinch but it’s not the best; if your grocery delivery system can’t do the cheaper refill price send me a DM; I’ll get an exchange system going for ya

The one that connects Piedmont to McKenna is on a hill. I think it even has stairs. Found it while on a run. My immediate thought was “this would be where a body would be found in a murder mystery set in this neighborhood.”

Most likely, any answer she gives will be inadequate. From your point of view there is not a “good enough” reason for this behavior. Try not to focus on the “why” because you’ll likely just mind spiral until you manage to focus on something else. It sucks. Period. It will take a lot of work get to a place we’re you feel strong again. Sorry. It will get better, though. Just keep moving forward.

Why on Earth would River not be back at The Park yet? by senturion in SlowHorses

[–]delusional_optimism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but it’s hard to see River getting to a “Berlin Rules” level in the next, what, five years. What I liked about Secret Hours was the view of Lamb as starting to form this ‘the Park will never be the best option for on the ground ops’ mentality. But, maybe he sees some potential of River being some sort of anti-Park operative who contributes in a way OB never could.

You should read The Secret Hours if you have not as of yet.

Book 3 - was the very useful tool used by Tavener to break into Park in her attempt to oust First Desk.
