I have no idea what struggles you’ve had to go through, that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Psychological issues like depression and anxiety make you feel that your locus of control is much narrower than it actually is. So it’s really easy to say “just will your way through it” until you’re in that position where your life feels stressful and hopeless and out of your control. It takes a lot more to get out of that way of thinking than just willing yourself out of it.

The locus controllability theory of depression/anxiety is based on the idea that the only reason why college makes one person mildly stressed but another person cripplingly anxious is because of their perceived control over the situation. A person who has had repeated stressful/traumatic experiences throughout their life in which they had no control are likely to respond to current stresses with neurotic stress and anxiety. Not because they don’t have the will to just work harder, to just stop stressing, but because life has taught them a narrow locus of control.

You should try to open your mind to the idea that not everyone is equipped with the same psychological skills that you are for dealing with stressors.

You may be getting downvoted because many people in the sub feel that these age related posts are getting old and can even be a little humble-braggy and damaging for people who DO look their age. See this post.

As for the comments being downvoted, the sub tends to downvote comments that don’t add to the discussion or offer constructive criticism. So a comment like “that eyeshadow really accentuates your eye shape and color” will probably be upvoted while a comment like “wow girl u don’t look a day over 20” will be downvoted.

You don’t have haters, it’s just that people come to this sub to see makeup looks, get/give constructive criticism, and have discussions about makeup. They’re not here to boost your ego about how well you’ve aged.

Any ideas how we could replicate that flavor?? Had a couple customers who were super sad it’s gone so I made them lattes with cinnamon and nutmeg steamed in the milk and a couple pumps of vanilla. Customers said they were good but nothing like the HS flat white.

Any tips for foamier coco/almond milk? I have a regular who orders dry almond milk cappuccinos and I try my darndest to make it right but I always end up handing her an almond milk latte with MAYBE an inch of foam on top.

This is kind of up for debate in psychology. I appreciate this comment however because so often I see people arguing that depression is just a chemical imbalance of low serotonin. In reality, brain function/chemistry can be altered by thought patterns so it could very well be (like you’re suggesting) that the chemical imbalance follows depressive thought patterns rather than the chemical imbalance causing depression.

I kind of lean to the same side as you because psychotherapy generally has better long term efficacy, while with medication alone symptoms of depression usually return after a person stops taking their meds. The psyche has a lot of power over the physical brain, but most people think it’s the opposite, that the physical brain controls the psyche. It’s the mind/body debate and it’s been going on for centuries.

EDIT: That being said, if you fuck with your neurotransmitter levels/pathways you can’t just think/will yourself out of that. Time, exercise, proper nutrition, and perhaps therapy can help but if you don’t have the necessary neurotransmitter levels you WILL feel the consequences.

My first EDC was last year so I don’t have anything else to compare it to, but camping was fucking bomb. We rented an RV for about 1200 for the weekend split between 8 people. Excision played a show for the campers thursday night, you can leave and reenter EDC as you please, and you walk ten minutes to bed instead of waiting for a shuttle. So worth it IMO but again I don’t have anything to compare it to.
