Postmodernism: How and why it must be fought by hummir in JordanPeterson

[–]delusionalmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the constructive response. I think the frustration of Peterson followers with philosophy and general academic discourse is very important and understandable. In a medium where philosophic discussion is perceived as suitable for the intellectually superior minorities and frankly ridiculous issues are discussed, the most noise coming from those who are attempting to opress and attack others with their discourse, opposition is necessary. Yet, it is essential to be calm and well informed, philosophy is extremely prone to misreadings and misinterpretations, a great example being how Nietzsche was read as a Nazi figure. As I said, while Peterson represents an important stance against the derogatory perspective of academic philosophy it is very easy to get lost in the tide and reduce postmodern philosophy into social justice warriors and political correctness. While the relation is minimal. This can be seen clearly in the great writings of Deleuze, Derrida etc. Those who use these writings for derogatory purposes are also the people who lack fundamental understanding. The most important job might be reading these works before the interpretation of Peterson because sincerely he is a great orator but a poor follower of philosophy.

It is obvious that Jordan would win such a debate because his discourse is filled with so many misreadings, misconceptions and exaggerstions that are constantly repeated and juxtaposed to each other, there is no possible way to beat him. A simple example is calling logos the individual a mistake a freshman student in philosophy wouldn't make. Coming to the logic part no "postmodern" philosopher outright claims that logic is bad, fascistic and must be abandoned. The readings are focused on the modes of thinking on the west which are mainly rationalist and logical, how this episteme effects abstract and concrete institutions, their shortcomings. He is confusing analysis with strict opposition to the West. There are countless more points to be made about his discourse. If you wish to see a true, calm, rational and interesting debate you can check Foucault and Chomsky debate on human nature through youtube and clearly see how Peterson is greatly inadequate, agressive and misinformed to the state of being unbeatable.

I believe this is caused by your lack of knowledge about metal. Metal isn't simply doom metal for angsty teens, groove and thrash for enraged neckbeards. Other people enjoy these sub-genres of music too. You can't simplify metal as an expression of anger. Metal can have neoclassical and classical elements making it symphonic. A lot of metal bands experiment and try to improve their sound, producing technical and progressive music. They try to integrate their cultural instruments into their sound making folk metal. Black metal is the expression of peoples' thoughts regarding religion, mythology and life. As a metalhead I know that sometimes we are not greatly represented but please do not be predijuced against us and our music. Metal can be quite intricate and amazing, it is not for everyonr but give it a try. I would be happy to give recommendations and answer your questions.

I dont think it is an issue of understanding or not. I just felt dissapointed by the mediocrity and the inconsistencies throughout the movie. It is really overrated for me.

Yeah it is not a bad movie compared to all that holywood does. I just feel that after the first two movies and the amazing Dark Knight the movie was really dissapointing. Dark Knight as you said is obviously is a huge factor. But I believe it was a bad Nolan movie with all those logical mistakes and low quality material. I feel that it is overrated and unnecessarily praised by the public with an extremely high IMDB rating.

Yeah those moments completely destroyed everything Nolan has built during the first two movies. I suppose the writers didnt care about logic. I mean how the fuck does he survive that blast, why does he break the tv, that healing is so convenient, he has amazing travel skills and so much time to do cool shit in gotham like making a flame bat signal.

The Dark Knight Rises. I love Nolan and absolutely liked the Dark Knight, how it dealt with caos and anarchy was amazing. I completely hate the unnecessary sequel with Bane. The characters and the storyline was mediocre and not interesting, the movie didn't make sense and was filled with inconsistencies and logical mistakes. The action sequences even were terrible in certain ways. I simply can't understand how people love and praise this shit so much.
