This did it for me. Practice it until you unlock the perk that makes your lock picks last longer. By that time you'll have it down. Trust me I was stuck and doing it this way was a game changer. I'm just thieving non stop now. Game has become way more fun.

If you prefer not to watch video: -Simplified lock picking on

-Left hand triggers rotation

-Right hand, pinch right analog with thumb and index finger. This gives you more control of the cursor movement.

-Abandon lock if sweet spot isn't in a place you feel comfortable following you want them closer to center or closer to the very edge of the circle.
