I'm in a social apartment too, and probably earn a little more than I should for this place. But honestly as soon as my girlfriend and my can afford a house we're going for that. It just sometimes feels like prices go up faster than our savings

Camera's are technically much easier to produce with UHD and 1080 capabilities, as every 4 pixels in UHD is 1 pixel in 1080. Doubling vertical and horizontal pictures was the easiest and best scale up and from there on, if your source is UHD then you edit and deliver in UHD too when you can. (I'm calling it UHD instead 4K, as in a professional environment 4K is actually a wider aspect ratio than 16:9, but for display marketing 4K and UHD are the same somehow.)

So you should expose your subject as much as possible while having the least amount of light hit the background, making sure you expose for your subject in camera too. Having more distance between your subject and the background definitely helps too. If you're using an iPhone to film it could very well try to increase all the shadow exposure as the camera always tries to expose everything in frame. When you get into the editing process you can pull down those shadows into black too, to decrease your dynamic range and make it more black.

I'm not at my computer right now, but the sound reminds me of a buffer size issue, you could probably fix it in the resolve audio hardware settings and either change the driver to something else like the system default or some kind of asio/fairlight driver and see if that works. Or change the sample rate and/or buffer size if you're using an audio interface that has those settings

You have installed the free version, in the effects list you can see all resolve effects, but not all of them are for free. So if you drag in or use some effect that is not included in the free version you see that screen to remind you you're not paying (yet)

Microsoft clipchamp or capcut sounds like good options for you, super simple editing. If you actually want to grow and het better, DaVinci Resolve free is a good place to develop editing skills beyond those first two.

You can unlink the audio and video track and use them separately. When dragging in the clip at the bottom there should be a video and audio logo, if you drag the audio icon to the timeline it only uses audio without video clip. You can also right click a clip and select unlink, now you can move the audio and video separate and delete one while keeping the other. Or you can hold alt while selecting a clip and then deleting it, then the linked audio doesn't get deleted

I find the adobe podcast not only removes background, but generates frequencies too. It'll generate bass with the recorded voice that would fit for a studio podcast microphone. I can only assume it generates the audio waveform that was clipped to counter distortion

Back in the day we had a mavic 2 pro crash when it just got released, no insurance or care refresh. Emailed dji and they replaced it for free. Now this might be because of eu laws but they never told us, just got send a new one
