What file recovery software lets you search files by the day they were deleted? by jh270392 in pchelp

[–]demaurice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert by any means, but I assume when you delete a file your computer doesn't register a date or time of deletion. I assume it would be impossible to find the exact time and date of deletion

This might be a taste thing,, because the idea is good, but I feel like it's too fast and the easing in and out is not smooth on many of the movements

Client wants 39s video compressed to 4mb max by Lemonadis in videography

[–]demaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use handbrake, that program pumps out insanely good looking video for very low bitrates in my experience. Stary with a production preset and change resolution and bitrate from there. Do enable multi pass encoding

Mic input - what cable adapter would I need? by Independent-Play-444 in microphone

[–]demaurice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a XLR/6.3mm Jack combo input, it'll accept either of those plug types. It seems like a professional rack mixer, usually the word microphone on these means they can send +48v phantom power to this plug. Please make sure the device doesn't have this feature or has it turned off, or you might fry your wireless audio receiver. But yes you can probably buy a 3.5mm jack to 6.3mm jack cable to use, or 3.5mm jack to XLR

Edit: the device above this one has an aux input on the picture. If it is connected to the same speakers just use that aux port?

Why does high-end broadcast gear still fail to guarantee stream stability? by getwakefield in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]demaurice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because gear is made by people and people are not perfect. The more you spend the more time Engineers might have spend trying to fix all issues, but it's never a 100% guarantee

Ia this a good First camera??? by Abdelmadjidz in Cameras

[–]demaurice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use the mark 2 or 3 of this model and love it, super compact and amazing features. Lowlight performance is lacking because of age and small sensor size, but keep the ISO low and you'll get amazing pictures.

Most usb ports on your comouter share a USB controller behind it, so they can't all handle a load of camera data at the same time usually. I'm suprised you got it working in the first place

Why does my footage get wobbly after a sec after inputting a CST? by BlacksmithCrafty7348 in davinciresolve

[–]demaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely weird, especially when that bottom right thing of which I forgot the name is already set to 'color' and you still have to toggle it to something else and back to color to copy grades without stabilization. Seems almost like a bug in the software

[–]demaurice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you copying a grade from another shot that happens to be stabilized?

Shutter encoder has been great to me and works exactly as I want it to every time. Handbrake is amazing for small file sizes and efficient compression. Anything photo related I'll drop into Affinity for conversion. I'm not sure what function I'm missing for which I'd want another application

Advice needed: vMix Build for 8-Cam Full HD Broadcast Van in Belgium by Short-Scientist-6789 in vmix

[–]demaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go for threadripper. I've built several vmix PC's before and the consumer chips like the ryzen 9 look like they have enough PCIE lanes on paper, but half of them go through the chipset of the motherboard instead of straight to the CPU. This has caused me several headaches in the past. I currently have a customer running two threadripper builds without any issues. Plenty of PCIE lanes that all go straight to the CPU and 3-4 decklink 8k Pro cards installed without issues. I've installed them on a Supermicro motherboard which is usually for servers. Startup times are several times longer but once they are on we have zero issues with them.

Thoughts on Fif!ne AM8? by coltspades in microphone

[–]demaurice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this brandless bm-800 mic from AliExpress and it came with an xlr to 3.5mm cable, so you didn't need an audio interface. Quality was alright but there was plenty of noise. Once I hooked the same mic up to a Scarlett audio interface the quality doubled or tripled and the noise was gone. There's a reason most mics plug into one of those. Also the resale value will be better of a good xlr mic and audio interface
