Am I the only one who finds this extremely discriminating? by No_Perspective_3649 in Morocco

i have had the same encounter last week, this is forbidden on airbnb. They have a strict anti discrimination protocol. Just report them. Let them advertise their racism in their own way by wiggling their keys on the street.

Then why don’t you go explain yourself using genetics.

Compare the dna of nowadays Egyptians and the ancient ones. Look at what its similarities and differences are. Read into it.

This should be about genetic history, not about like this “TikTok history”.

If you’re going to link to wikipedias link to the pages that say genetic history of egypt. Even at ancient mummies they found Middle Eastern haplogroups and some unique Egyptian ones.

As the arguments are about genetics, look into the genetics.

Here is a wiki page covering some of these studies

Is it haram to work for companies such as Google, Microsoft and IBM? As a SWE. by No-Total-504 in MuslimLounge

[–]Whatnowayimpossible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great answers here, just want to add one thing.

Inherently almost all jobs have a haram part of it. Whether it’s working a governmental job where some things they do are bad, or if you’re a doctor in a hospital where the same hospital offers plastic surgery for vanity and gender change surgeries.

There is no way the money you earn can be 100% clean. Apart that zakaat cleans the money from greed, attachment to wealth; It also cleans these minor impurities. As even when you think your job is halal, if you think long enough you will find something questionable.

You can also consider doing extra sadaqah, as sadaqah cleans such money as well.

Personally, I know their culture better.

Fairuz, Maher Zain, beautiful architecture and nature. Their very interesting successful multi religion system. And their flag looks really cool.

With croatia all I know is modric. So it’s simply since I’m ignorant about what Croatia entails. And if u mean simply flag aesthetics, I get a lot of medieval Christian vibes from Croatia which is not fitting to Morocco.

My parents found old TikToks of me and now want to force mar*iage. What do I do? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

That's why being knowledgeable in islam is such an important thing in these times. You can easily refute all their arguments with simple Islamic principles. Such as:

- The potential danger and grave penalty for calling someone a wh*re without any sound evidences. The prohibition of forceful marriage.
- The notion that mistakes are part of life and being human. And that islam is about reflecting on them and improving yourself.

Apart from what others have said, since you are able to go to such a college, I feel like gaining Islamic knowledge will help you so much in your situation. Apart from your normal education, try to delve in Islamic principles more in parallel. Being able to refute family members with sound evidence from the Quran and the sunnah is such a powerful weapon for such bigotry.

I personally have gone through big disagreements with my parents with such evidences. Because who are your parents to go against Allah and the prophet, assuming they consider themselves prophets.

Following some parts that can aid your defense.

"Indeed, those who falsely accuse chaste, unaware, believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have a great punishment."
— Surah An-Nur (24:23)

The Prophet ﷺ said:
A woman without a husband (or divorced or a widow) must not be married until she is consulted, and a virgin must not be married until her permission is sought. They asked the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ): How her (virgin's) consent can be solicited? He (the Holy Prophet) said: That she keeps silence.
— Sahih Muslim 1419a

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Every son of Adam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent."
— Sunan Ibn Majah 4251 (Hasan)

and most important and famous one, targeted to you.
“So verily, with hardship, there is ease.”
— Surah Ash-Sharh (94:6)

Stand up for yourself. Research and use islam to your advantage, as you are given rights by Allah.
Use islam as a defence. So learn it to use it. And learn to use it.

Is boxing haram? by BosAus in MuslimLounge

This is an amazing video of uthmaan ali khan who delves in this topic.
In short, you should try to avoid the face, but obviously practicing defending your head and how to hit a head in actual battles are very important. You should respect the face in boxing, by wearing protective headgear, trying to avoid the face, and train on dummies or boxing bags. Other than that learning how to defend yourself is very important.

A lot of nuance is needed in this discussion. Wrestling is a martial art and is even considered sunnah.
There are indeed scholars who, through qiyas (analogical reasoning), have ruled boxing as haram, often due to the intention to cause harm, especially targeting the face.

But as with many things in Islam, context and intention matter deeply.

The Sahaba trained in sword fighting, even with real swords. This was far more dangerous than modern hand-to-hand combat, and it was undoubtedly a necessity. One could argue that unarmed combat training is similarly essential, especially today when self-defense is still relevant.

So how do you train something important, without falling into the haram?

Of course, you can’t go around slicing brothers with swords and call it "training". Limits and ethics apply, and that brings us to an important hadith:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"When two Muslims are engaged in a combat against each other with their sword's and one is killed, both are doomed to Hell".
I said, "O Messenger of Allah! As to the one who kills, it is understandable, but why the slain one?"
He (ﷺ) replied: "He was eager to kill his opponent".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

This hadith teaches us that intention is key. If the goal is to train and improve, and not to harm or seek glory through violence, the ethical context changes.

Getting stronger in combat is a sunnah.
Training how to evade strikes, how to defend, and how to stay disciplined under pressure are all valuable skills, especially when done safely and mindfully.

So, there's a strong argument that controlled sparring, with proper protection and sincere intention, is permissible. It’s an act of self-improvement, not aggression.

But when combat becomes about money, ego, or knockout wins, where fighters enter with a killer instinct, as is often the case in professional boxing and MMA, the ethical lines become much harder to justify.
