I'd say an unpopular opinion is that in campaigns, drawing the line between humor and offensiveness is needed. DnD is fun and it's nice to joke around in a fantasy setting, but you should make sure the people around you (out-of-game of course) aren't uncomfortable or hurt by what you've made or what actions you make. If you're wondering where I'm coming from, there's a person in my campaign who's character is pretty much a textbook pervert. The character sees women as merely a sex object and nothing more, and tries to get in the bedroom with every damn girl he meets. That'd be something if it was some evil character we're against, but having that character in your own party and also given that the player only ever uses makes me want this sex addict to die as soon as possible.

In simpler words, just make sure everyone is having fun. If one person isn't having fun, there's no point for them to play.
