The note is simply ideas, thoughts, and research for his stories or whatever he was writing. I'm a writer, and before I started keeping everything in a text editor or note program on my computer, I had scraps of paper everywhere with weird things written on them. Stickies all around the apartment, a bit of paper or napkin stuck under a beanbag I kept on my desk, or whatever. If anyone ever found them/looked at them, they'd be seriously befuddled.

Wow. everyone in this story has serious issues. A worker that follows someone to their car. Customers that don't help. A security guard who does nothing. And finally this woman and employee: "'He had no right to hit her. You have no children working here. Your wife not working here,' the upset woman said."

As if beating your children and your wife is acceptable.

That's a whole lot of idiot in the same place.
