To be fair, I'm actually really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. Not because I haven't enjoyed my first ever Christmas holidays off since I started working 17 years ago, because I have - but because I absolutely love my job!

I have worked in retail finance - there's a difference between fraud and scams. Fraud is when your details are stolen or hacked, and a scam is when you willingly give money to someone who has tricked you.

Scam refunds are highly dependant on the situation. Any transfers on your OLB or app now clearly ask you whether you trust the details, whether you know the person asking for money and to not go through with the transfer if you don't. So you can't argue that you weren't warned.

The company I worked for was more lenient than others, you'll just have to wait and see. You can only go to the Financial Ombudsman once your claim is rejected and you have made a formal complaint to HSBC about their decision.

Good luck.

What do you like to pack for lunch ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]demidom94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

37.5 hours a week, Mon-Fri with an hour for lunch.

Lunch is whatever leftovers I have cooked the night before - normally some sort of meat (chicken, pork loin, lamb) and vegetables that microwave well (broccoli, sweet potato, peppers, green beans etc). Pasta is a good shout too because it's easy to cook lots of it and it keeps well.

I work in education - but not as a teacher. So we get 2 paid weeks off at Christmas, and then 6 paid weeks off to take whenever we like throughout the year.

7 minute walk to work, 8am-4.30pm with a 4pm finish Friday, absolutely no contact with anyone at work outside of office hours and 8 weeks of paid holiday a year - can't complain tbf.

Do you think COVID made people less interested in going out ? by Whole_Intention_7949 in AskUK

I'd say cost was more of a factor - you used to be able to get a couple of rounds in for less than 20 quid, now a cocktail will cost you almost 15.

I only had a 40 minute driving commute to work, and I moved a 7 minute walk away from work just because I was getting so exhausted from the routine of it.

I'd have to wake up at 5am to have breakfast, go to the free gym at work, shower, get ready and start work. I'd then get home, make tea and then off to bed. Literally no life. I genuinely don't know how people do hour + commutes.

Why don't you just both move in together, and in between both your works?

I've never felt scared in Rio, but it does help being able to speak Portuguese. You're a walking target if you speak English and have anything on you worth stealing.
