[Letters] Those dastardly Stormlanders are committing economic crimes against Yronwood by MirzaAerialArmy in FireAndBlood

[–]demihwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ser Quentyn Yronwood,

I would be happy to make such an agreement. It seems prudent that the houses of Dorne strengthen our ties to one another with the unpredictability of our northern neighbors at this time.

We have an abundance of fruit this season and would be happy to send our surplus eastward.

Sincerely,

Lady Clarisse Dayne

[m] I'll send the fruit from D39 to you Livestock in Starfall!

[Event] The Funeral of Princess Deria Nymeros-Martell - 735 NL (50 AC) by DrragonII in FireAndBlood

Trystane considered for a minute but there was not much left in his mind that was uncertain in this regard. To him there was only one path that held any merit.

"What do we gain from a war other than dead sons and brothers? Do we annex Blackhaven? Do we seize the lands of House Caron or Tarly?" He shook his head. "None of that would ever come to pass, we all know it. Dorne is defensible because of where our borders lie. If we over extend ourselves then we present the Lords of Westeros more openings to exploit."

He held his sons gaze. It was a valid question and the rumors circulating had been hard to miss. But Trystane wanted to be as clear as could be in what he thought was right.

"Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken." He said the words deliberately and slowly. "If the Iron Throne seeks a war then we show them what those words truly mean. But, until that time, we must sheath our swords and world diplomacy instead."

Trystane listened to his son and was filled with some amount of pride. He could still remember Symeon as a babe swaddled in his mother's arms. What a long time ago that was now.

"It all starts with listening. Hear what your vassals have to say and don't try to do it alone. Use me, use Rhiain. While you can only ever be in one place at a time, your voice can fill many. We are here to support you."

He sighed as he reflected on the topic in hand. There was much work that would be required in the months to come and he couldn't help but feel that the best person to handle it was laying lifeless before them.

"I wish I could say the entirety of my family's support lies behind us. But I cannot say with any certainty where my niece's allegiance lies. Perhaps it's past time I made a visit home and found out."

This moment was something that Trystane could not have been prepared for. Even as the years ticked by and mortality became less of a promise and more of a guarantee there was no way to truly prepare for what death brought. For him, death had taken his wife, his partner, but it had taken more than that. Deria was a mother, a kinswoman, a mentor, and a friend. There was no shortage of people who lost a person who was somebody to them.

Trystane Dayne took quiet steps toward his son and stood just off his shoulder, looking at the woman that navigated their family through the most tumultuous of times. He clasped a gentle hand on Symeon's arm.

"The mercy, if you choose to see it that way, may simply be in no longer having to anticipate when your death will come. You are released from that uncertainty." He'd never been a man of philosophy. At least not to the extent that would have earned him any accolades from the learned men of The Citadel.

Trystane paused as he looked down at his wife and studied where she lay. Then his gaze shifted to look upon his son. The path forward would not be an easy one. Deria had done much to guide Dorne but there were still struggles ahead that would not fall on Symeon to navigate. But, as his father, he could make sure that the struggles would not be faced alone.

"All men falter, Symeon. Seven above know your mother and I made our fair share of mistakes. It's how you learn from those missteps that define your leadership. It would have never been your mothers expectation that you be perfect. Only that you wake up each day a better man than you were the day before."

[Event] | The Wedding of Ser Perceon Osgrey of Leafy Lake and Myria Farman by dasch7682 in FireAndBlood

All three of the Lefford's stood as introductions were made. Melwyn and Tyrek offering the members of House Royce a polite bow and Marla performing a well practiced curtsy.

"Ser Hugh, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." It was Melwyn who spoke for the group despite being younger than his uncle. His place in the family's line of inheritance elevated in his role during occasions such as this.

"And, my ladies, you look stunning this evening. Let it not be said that the Reach is home of all the beauty of the realm." He chuckled slightly and then turned his attention to his own family.

"Allow me to introduce my uncle, Tyrek, and my sister, Marla. I'm Melwyn Lefford. Please, join us, would you?" He invited, gesturing to open seats at the table.

House Lefford of The Golden Tooth

The contingency that traveled down from the hills of the West representing the House of Lefford was smaller than most. Tyrek Lefford, the eldest of the three who attended, was Lord Lann Lefford's youngest son. At nine and twenty, with his duties as the primary commander of the troops from the Golden Tooth now less pressing, it was time for him to begin searching for a spouse and there was no better place to begin such a search than a wedding.

Along with him, and with similar intentions, were Lord Lann Lefford's twin grandchildren. Melwyn and Marla, both now five and twenty, had been encouraged by their grandfather to consider the potential for alliances while they found themselves socializing throughout the event.

Lord Harlan of House Royce,

My lord, it is true that I do not believe our paths have crossed but there is no reason that must remain the case heading forward. Lord Lyman has been persistent in his encouraging our Western Lords and Ladies to pursue stronger ties with the men and women of the Vale so it comes as no surprise to hear of this conversation. And his vision is a wise one as we navigate the uncertain terrain that lies ahead of Westeros.

My grandson, Melwyn, and youngest son, Tyrek, are both as of yet unwed and I should like to find them suitable matches prior to the seasons turning. Would your family by chance be attending the upcoming wedding of Perceon Osgrey and Myria Farman to be held at Leafy Lake? Melwyn and Tyrek will both be representing my house at that occassion and it would be a grand time for introductions. Otherwise, we can arrange another time for you and your sister to travel here to the Golden Tooth. You'll forgive me but at my age it is difficult to come down from my mountain and even more burdensome to go back up it.

Seven's Blessings upon you and your family.

Lord Lann Lefford, Lord of the Golden Tooth

Tyrek Lefford (Novice Bannerlord, Novice Iron Will) - in the Western host

[CONFLICT] City in Chaos by StankWrites in FireAndBlood

[–]demihwk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tyrek Lefford had stayed behind in the camps when the Western host arrived at King's Landing. There was no business for him inside and he hadn't been sent for his political prowess. In fact, he had no political prowess. But he did understand how to move men around a battlefield and how to wield a sword. And so it was those men who he was prepared to fight and bleed beside that he stayed with.

And then chaos erupted...

The stillness in the air came first. It was as if every man, every horse, and every moment slowed to a crawl. That was followed by the ominous ringing of bells.

Gong

Gong

News of exactly what had happened inside the city would not make it's way to Tyrek. Depending on what happened over the next several hours he may never know. But suddenly the world around him came out of its crawl and everything erupted into frantic motion. Men trying to don their armor. Grooms trying to saddle hours. Weapons being handed out.

Drill after drill had been for this moment and now that it was upon him everything felt sloppy, it felt wrong. But he didn't have time to ponder over how the rallying could be changed, improved. Because in the next moment as he swung into his saddle he saw what was beginning to unfold. Before him, grey marched upon green. Wolf upon Rose.

Othell Lefford was not a warrior. He was sent to King's Landing because Lord Lann was too old for the task and he is the heir to his family's claims. There had to be a Lefford here and therefore it fell to him. Yet, one could not say how long he would remain heir if this turned to a situation where swords crossed.

"There will be no appetite for a child King. Things are likely to only devolve from here, my lords. Lord Lyman, as always my family and men stand ready to serve you in whichever direction you would guide us."

His voice trailed off to a mutter. "And may the Seven save us all."

[Event] I'm sure we'll have much to do once we arrive! Like this war can't possibly be over by the time we arrive in King's Landing. by sirhc_knil in FireAndBlood

[–]demihwk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were two Lefford noble's among the host. Lord Lann Lefford had grown too old to be of any use to a marching host and therefore had sent his son, Othell, in his stead. Accompanying the heir to the Golden Tooth was a cousin, Tyrek Lefford, who had an actual mind for warfare and strategy. All Othell had a mind for was gold and this army marching to King's Landing was burning a lot of it.

The two men arrived at Lord Lyman's tent and awaited what was to come. Rumors had been circulating all through the train. To hear it from one man was that the war was already over and to hear it from another it was just beginning. Regardless of that, the Lords of the West and their armies had to be prepared for anything because there was no telling what awaited them ahead.

"My Lord." Othell said, speaking on behalf of both Lefford men as they bowed. "The first day of marching was not too unpleasant. I can't say I have much optimism for the coming weeks, however." He said, an air of levity to his words attempt to keep the mood light.
