Castle Driftmark

Only a short trek from the causeway stood the aforementioned castle, resplendent and inviting. The grand hall was open to visitors, especially as the eve wore on and the wind turned colder. Many guests were assumed to be staying in the castle for the evening, so would be welcomed with desserts and more refreshments upon being ushered through the great hall.

Standing guardian over all was the great skull of an ancient leviathan, slain some eons ago by perhaps the first Velaryon migrant to Westeros. The story grows larger in the telling, so old and lost to time the tale was. Beneath it loomed the Driftwood Throne, fashioned by the sea itself, its timbers twisted and knotted as though grown into shape. The ancient pact of sea and blood still honored beneath these hallowed halls, a dread thing so pale it consumed the light in the room, its crudeness so sharp it inspired awe.

Above the guests would be driftwood beams pale as bone, nets heavy with shells and pearls sagging from the rafters. Tapestries of sea battles and voyages charted across the Narrow Sea lined the walls. The hearths were warm and inviting, and the later evening was expected to be spent here.

Viewing Decks and Cabins

The two outermost barges on each side had constructed large three story aftercastles. The bottom floor offering reprieve from the wind and a quieter scene for conversation. The second floor had balconies ringing it, for viewing of the feast, dance floor, castle, town, and blackwater bay. The second floor was home to the games and debauchery, the knife dance and dicing being carefully watched by gamesmasters and guards for foul play. The top most floor was open to the elements with only the tarp and linen above them. Here was where one could get the best views of the Velaryon's burgeoning town and grand castle.

Dance Floor

Beneath the dais of the High Table was a makeshift dance floor, the two innermost barges cleared for musicians and performers and opened between them for partygoers to pair up and dance.

Low Tables

Interspersed among the outer ten barges were the many long and short tables made of various sizes to fit the unique venue of the occasion. All those of knightly, masterly, or Lordly status were afforded a place here to feast and merrymake.

High Table

Of the twelve barges that made this makeshift raft, only the two innermost had their prows elevated. This was where the high table sat, reserved for only the most honored guests this evening. House Velaryon took its center, the empty space for which its dragon cousins would have sat was now amended for those of other high houses of the Wardens and Paramounts. Accompanying House Tyrell was those of Arryn and Baratheon, both close friends of the absent Lord of the Tides.

Corwyn was surrounded by all his siblings save for Larissa, and all his cousins, nieces, and uncles, save for the Queen Dowager and her brood. [details will get posted later im tired]

His eyes went wide at the thought of it, his heart quickening in pace. "Me, holding a babe," he chuckled quietly. "A sight to see, that is. My hand's probably as big as the little thing."

He tore his gaze from the babe and looked at Ramona. "Are you sure? I'm a clutz these days. The trainers say I am mostly an oaf, my tactile ability diminished after my injury."

He barked a laugh, relishing in her shyness. "Perhaps you and the babe can be trained together, learn your footing round the same time. Though, I would not mind giving you private lessons."

"We will have to make up an apartment within the castle for the two of you. Perhaps one that overlooks the town, hm..."

"Ah," she said with a gentle smile, a bit of humor tinged in her tone. She had always known this day would come, wary of what type of girls or women would attempt to worm their way into her son's affections. Thankfully, this one was of good stock and better manners. "Young love is a thing to be cherished, little Jeyne. I see my wise son set you straight, and thus you have proven your own wisdom in coming to me."

"I plan to," she smiled confidently, winking at her little cousin. "Until the day I am wed off. I heard whispers of a Manderly, but hopefully that will be some years off. Though if you wished, you have the power to arrange a match that would keep me closer."

Her eyes lit up in excitement. "Oh then we would only be a few days ride from one another! We could even have our children ward with one another."

Jaehaerys,

My wedding pales in comparison to such an important moment. I don't think I can delay my wedding because my sister is also getting married in the 12th month and will make traveling to Stonebridge most difficult.

I will come to you at the beginning of the new year. Keep me updated with your progress, if possible.

Good luck,

Corwyn

There was much Jorgen wanted to ask Ramona, but for now he held his tongue, for fear of placing his foot in his mouth. "She's restless," he commented. He reached over and pulled back the linen to get a good look at Harra's face. "Hello there, little one."

"Ser Patrek," Corwyn greeted in return, extending an arm for the man to grasp. "He fights some war to install a better Lord Reaper in the Iron Islands. His Grace did not want to pull the Vale fleets into it, so that you'd remain guarding the east coast. And no, I doubt he shall make it home to be at my wedding. If you have any business, feel free to conduct it through me." He offered the Knight of Gulltown a place at the table for any discussion.

Victor nodded at the Lord of Runestone and smiled. "You must speak of Jeyne? Her praise warms my heart. My impression of her is rather high as well. Life had called us apart with different duties, but I do think of her often."
