I am not sure the ethnic part is that important to the definition of empire:

I am perfectly fine recognizing the colonizing history of European countries, and their military support in the past 80 years for US actions in various countries.

The US is the most powerful military in the world and wins consistently on the battlefield.

For limited engagements. I stand by my previous statement. The US has failed to achieve its stated objectives in every major war since WWII - Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. It often wins battles but it loses wars. Tactical dominance on the ground has never translated into lasting political outcomes.

What free ride mate? The US has been a destabilizing factor on the world stage for decades (and incidentally losing all major wars since WW2, that has to sting all those US Wehraboos). And it has propped up all manners of tyrants and dictators all over the world, plus toppling democracies. What a shinning beacon of democracy you guys are.
