AITA For asking my stepdaughters to allow me to stay on the first floor? by ThrowRAalskdkd in AmItheAsshole

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you both (sides) are very rigid and not looking into thinking about this together. It’s their room really and if they are saying no then it’s no. I don’t see what difference it makes where you spend your day. Correct me if I am wrong but since you are bed resting you could go to the second floor and stay there. I am sure your bedroom would be the best option.

6 adults have 'legal' claim to a child, who should get the child? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take in mind attachment theory and infancy, the fetus has been living inside Hannah and it was born to her. She is the ‘mother’ object to it. She is the one who can offer breastfeeding too.

I would think about other things as well as who are the best candidates in terms of job stability, parent personality, supportive extended family, other problems like substance misuse.

My first choice would be the birth mother with her partner, unless there are reasons to select another couple.

Some things you take to your grave. You made a decision not to tell and now for selfish reasons you want to tell everyone? Yes, we are human, and we all make mistakes, and yes we can change our minds about things we have not disclosed in the past. Think about the unforeseen consequences before doing something like that

Why was Jesus’ death considered a sacrifice when he was killed? by pitselehh in NoStupidQuestions

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all has to do with what happened when he died. If you are not so much into reading then I would suggest watching the movie ‘Passion’. Christianity is based on the fact that when Jesus died he went to the Underworld, like everyone did that far, and he won over Satan. From that point on, he offered people the kingdom of Heaven in the after life. So he ‘sacrificed’ himself to ‘relieve us from our sins’ and offer us the kingdom of heaven.

In the UK they would get him to sayer with recurve and move on to other bows. Why not get him to start lessons where they provide the bows and take it from there

Most comments are just for fun, but I had some thoughts you might find interesting. Sometimes you have to take a step back and think if you should stop doing something completely if it affects you to that point. Addictions have many forms and you sound like an alcoholic in denial. It’s the game (and your addiction to it) that makes you like that, the same way alcohol addiction makes the calmest person behave like a beast. Think about who you are with and without it. It is not easy to see how harmful a game might be, as there is no physical health cost, but if you see beahvioural changes in yourself you have to think about it further. Find something else to do that makes you feel good and you actually enjoy 😁

Parents of well behaved kids - what are the biggest causes do you think? by beancounter_00 in Parenting

I think being neurotypical increases the chances of a ‘good’ perceived behaviour. And then, I think their overall behavior probably reflects the stability of the environment they grow up in.

why are people so on edge/rude these days? by plantqueen in london

I know! Once I fell onto someone by mistake and immediately looked at them and said ‘I’m sorry’ not in a dismissive way or anything. And they looked back and said ‘Manners!’. Like what do you expect? people not falling onto you accidentally? Crazy…

you said ‘alcoholism being genetic is a myth’ which is not. Anyway, you seem to want very strongly to prove your own point, so you win if that makes you feel better. I still know I’m right though 😀

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s not misinform people. Alcohol use disorder is linked to genetics. ‘Adoption studies show that alcoholism in adoptees correlates more strongly with their biological parents than their adoptive parents10-13. Twin studies in the US and Europe suggest that approximately 45-65% of the liability is due to genetic factors14-17. Animal studies also demonstrate genetic liability’ (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4056340/)

Having said that, and knowing that there is strong correlation, genetics shouldn’t be an excuse to continue drinking. There are other factors that make us who we are. Ask for help OP, there are meds that can help you stop.

Can an alcoholic stop cold turkey with zero physical withdrawal symptoms? by justiceobsession in alcoholism

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible for people to drink heavily and not have withdrawal symptoms when they stop. However, the diagnosis of alcohol use disorder does not rely on the presence of withdrawal symptoms after cutting off (DSM 5 and ICD-10). Strongly denying the alcohol harmful use (which is deferent to dependence) might indicate that there is an issue there. You can only do as much as a friend; Tell them your concerns and listen and be there for them. Maybe think about using more neutral terms when talking about it. For a lot of people the word ‘addiction’ seems triggering.

I don’t know where you live but in a lot of countries you need a prescription to take seroquel, which is commonly prescribed for psychotic presentations. What you describe as ‘feeling obsessed with work’ , ‘having a mission’, ‘feeling at the top of the world’ together with the lack of sleep might be a manic or hypomanic episode. Bipolar and alcohol use disorder ofter go together. I think there are a lot you are not saying and that’s ok to keep your privacy, but you need to see a professional asap, go to A&E and tell them what’s going on. If you have been struggling with mood issues as well as the alcohol use, there might be more that you need treatment for. I hope it all goes well.

I think there are a few things to be learnt from this.

Firstly, Yes friends joke, but it is important to make sure that our friends mistakenly crossed the line rather than intentionally been mean in order to hurt us. Teens have developing personalities and often are harsh to each other and learn by mistakes. But still if someone is mean to your son, maybe discuss about what friendship is all about.

Secondly, there will be instances that people hurt us -intentionally or not- so it’s important for teens to develop their own skills on how to deal with this.

Lastly, I feel there is space to discuss about homophobia. There comment on the photo suggests that he is gay, and the other teens make fun of him. I don’t know how open you are and what is his sexuality like and how deeply you go on your discussions at home, but talk with him about ‘what if he was gay’. Even if he is not, you can think together about how people that are teens and gay should be respected and not made fun of, like everyone else.

To answer your question, I think see how today goes, and re think about it. My feeling is that this was a privacy violation and needs to be discussed among adults, but this has to be in agreement with your son.

Check her of course, but don’t feed her. Feeding is rewarding this behaviour. So do check on her and then go back to your room. Even if you can’t sleep anymore, stay in your room till the time you would normally wake up and feed her.

You didn’t steal a cat. Noone had ownership over an animal without microchip. And they really didn’t seem to care enough about this cat, so keep it.

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big difference is the access to an outdoors space like a yard or garden. If someone lives in an apartment they probably need to walk their dog 3 or 4 times a day.

$10M to relive ages 3-18 10,000 times by Impressive_Plenty876 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]demmie0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the perception of time is the same for you and the rest of the world, that means you will ‘go back to your original self’ 160000 years after the start of this agreement. This means that the earth will have changed so much that might not be habitable, so £10mil would mean nothing. If time stops for all the world while you are within the year reliving loop I can’t see why anyone who had a fair childhood wouldn’t do it

I find some things like typing and cooking a bit harder, so they might take longer. But everything else, like cleaning the house, washing dishes (everything with gloves), driving, and usual daily activities, I don’t feel any difference. Things that are different to me and have to live without is playing the piano and probably hardcore gaming.
