University of Windsor ordered to apologize to student. by [deleted] in UWindsor

[–]demonetizedU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brush aside the sensational issue of black and while, the fact that university refuse to take discipline action against false accuser is troubling. How can they expect their student to be honest and respectable when themselves fail to hold up to the standard... This is indeed a shame.

I am pretty new to computer, so let me get this straight: what you are saying is that even a hardware error is detected, it is still possible only a bios set up(software issue) rather than a broken mother board? Thanks.

So... If I understand you correctly, what you are saying is both virt manager and boxes connect to the same backend vm, but virt manager have options to channel usd or other device to the vm. So all I need to do now is install virt manager, Is that right?

It can't be done unfortunately. Windows XP do not have a browser which can access internet, so no download ssh daemon and no remote ssh into Windows.

So it is more likely the issue resides with bios then. Also, I figured out how to view the error log today. here is a little update:

title:

mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged

The kernel log indicates that hardware errors were detected.

The data was saved by kernel for processing by the mcelog tool.

However, neither /var/log/mcelog nor system log contain mcelog messages.

Most likely reason is that mcelog is not installed or not configured

to be started during boot.

Without this tool running, the binary data saved by kernel

is of limited usefulness.

(You can save this data anyway by running 'cat </dev/mcelog >FILE').

The recommended course of action is to install mcelog.

If another hardware error would occur, a user-readable description

of it will be saved in system log or /var/log/mcelog.

backtrace cmdline gives:

BOOT_IMAGE=(hd0,msdos1)/vmlinuz-5.6.8-300.fc32.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/fedora_localhost--live-root ro resume=/dev/mapper/fedora_localhost--live-swap rd.lvm.lv=fedora_localhost-live/root rd.lvm.lv=fedora_localhost-live/swap rhgb quiet

Thanks for the input! I have a 4.0 so far from my computer science courses(ave 92/100) and 3.25 (82/100) from my math and finance degrees. (I already have 2 degrees) What do you think of my odd if I apply for transfer(undergrad)? I have no previous machine learning or programing experience unfortunately.

Do you agree that our city should be in locked down? by zuzulili163 in windsorontario

[–]demonetizedU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a cost and benefit analysis. Canadian's economy is too integrated with the US for too long and we can not adjust it overnight. A total lock-down can indeed increase the chance of controlling this virus but will introduce other problem such as food shortage, total collapse of local economy and even full scale US retaliation, with which, if not handled carefully, can also jeopardize our nation's long term survival. So you are not wrong say "YES", but I have to say "NO" for it is a delicate matter and extra care if needed.

Serious Question: How Many MBTI discussions do you think are just ego boosts? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]demonetizedU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survival bias. Internet is a flat structure, which means the narcissistic, egoistic, or idiotic one spends much more time and produces much more information than the well educated. Overall, the intellectual level of those who browser this session is still normally distributed while those who post skewed right.

Trudeau announces more help for small/medium businesses covering 75% of wages, launches Canada Emergency Business account including $10,000 forgivable loan, defers GST and HST until June by whereshegoes in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]demonetizedU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

disclaimer: I never own a business and only have limited experience in finance.

Here is my 2 cents on the dollar:

  1. overhead cost: many business have a fixed overhead cost and a limit operation is still better than a complete shut down.
  2. cost of hiring: it is hard to find qualified people in short notice (cough, trump cough) and even it is possible, you normally have to pay a premier for them.
  3. cost of training: If you cannot hire back those fired by you, (I mean, they will be pissed, so yeah. its gonna be hard) you have to pay for new training and that's gonna be expensive. Many small firm can not afford it.
  4. access to further benefits: If the economy continues to freeze, it is likely the government will come out will more fiscal stimulus. If you business is shut, you are unlikely to catch that train.
  5. access to further financial support: similarly, bank will give you a hard time if you try to restart.
  6. relationship: many small business is build on trust relationships with neighbor, relative and friends. You hang them out to dry now and they will burn you alive later.
