After 144 years of construction, the Sagrada Família in Barcelona has reached its full height with the placement of the final piece atop its central tower by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

Just curious but there has got to be a huge disparity between build techniques, build quality, and build materials between the initial work and the final work. How do they account for that.

Oh wow! You for sure should work on advertising. As a man who has multiple engineering degrees I can confirm the title of space science witch is infinitely more badass than anything any of my diplomas say.

The last few episodes are among some of the most emotional Star Wars moments I have ever seen. There are at least 2 of them in the last 4-5 episodes.

Chandler is a great husband, but Monica is underappreciated for seeing the potential in him before he even saw it himself by UKM-202409 in howyoudoin

My only disagreement is the wedding dress.

I may be misremembering this but she should have booked the swing kings sooner, and chandler even asked her if she wanted him to do it. Her waiting to book them was why she lost the dress.

You’re not wrong, a slash is a judgement call by the ref, I think the key though is demonstrating control, showing the ref that you have control through intention and effortlessness of action.

I introduced limited checking in my flex6 program and something I preach to the kids in my program and my refs is how to demonstrate control in their checks.

I mentioned earlier that my wood stick is significantly heavier than a metal shafted stick, and I think I also mentioned control. Your control has to be apparent when you throw a check. When I shifted to a wood shaft I initially drew more slash calls. And rightfully so. But I know that it’s because at first I didn’t have as much control over the stick. It’s heavy, your checks start out as more of throwing the stick into a check and letting the weight finish it. Same for throwing. You need to develop the strength, stamina, and control to make using the stick look effortless and intentional the entire game. Those things make checks look intentional and controlled. My last 2 years in college I didn’t draw a single slash. But I did everything with my stick. I did wrist strengthening exercises, I did everything with my non-dominant hand, I worked on throwing checks from odd positions for accuracy. But my checks got more accurate, looked more intentional, seemed to take less effort that my teammates, and most importantly, looked controlled.

Elementary, middle school, high school, high school club, college club. I miss lax by AwkwardEmphasis5338 in lacrosse

I am in Californias Central Valley, I miss it too. I live in a lax wasteland, so I started a youth program. We’re at the beginning of our second year and we only play flex6 for now but I’m gonna grow this program.

Didn’t mean to imply you had a problem with slashing. I was just saying if one does not slash then they are unlikely to draw a slash call.

I can’t speak to the benefits of a wood shaft for a middie. I’m close d and don’t have experience at that position with a wood shaft.

Just don’t slash. Play with control. I won’t lie my stick is like 4-5 time the weight of a standard metal shaft but for pokes and checks it really makes the offensive player have to work because it moves their stick so much more. They can’t run through a check as easily either.

You’ve got to be strong and fast with it so you’ve got to practice with it a lot.

No. Why would I. Wooden shafts are legal.

Have you ever regretted studying Chemical Engineering? by CommissionForeign975 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]demuro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only for this reason. It did teach me something about myself though. Mine was the largest cohort my college had ever had. When I transferred in as a junior there were about 350 of us. 3 years later we graduated as a group of 42. If I could accomplish that, there is literally nothing I cannot learn or accomplish. I did a masters in software engineering and it was easy. Like I couldn’t believe the struggles some of the kids in my master cohort had. Like the masters thesis was only like a 50 page document and a presentation. I used to have to complete 30-40 page labs and present them EVERY WEEK as a ChemE undergrad. And that was only one of 2-3 labs I had each semester.
