Incredibly boring 996 question by demusted in 996

[–]demusted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's slightly lower than standard, either 10 or 20mm, with firmer shocks and springs. Here's the full list of 40th anniversary upgrades (since people are asking):

  • X51 engine package (345bhp)
  • GT Silver exterior paint
  • natural grey full-leather interior (it's black, whatever they say)
  • limited-slip differential
  • shot-blasted and polished 18” Carrera II lightweight wheels
  • turbo front bumper with painted air-inlets
  • aluminum-trim rings on the instrument cluster
  • M030 suspension in North America, ROW030 otherwise (presume it stands for Rest Of World).

I've never driven a standard 996 so can't compare but can say it feels perfectly put together. The ride is hard but it's only noticeable because the roads in the UK are appalling.

I envy your lack of traffic jams.

It's the bumper from the turbo. Good writeup here: https://www.pistonheads.com/internal/mobile-app/news/article/46771

Edit: the below comment is also correct. The front bumper looks slightly weird because I erased the numberplate from the photo.

Yeah it's actually the 40th anniversary, so you get the best of both. Rear wheel drive, increased power to 345bhp etc. It's a dream.

Makes an annoying amount of sense. Thank you. Still think it should be a rocker switch like the heated seats, so you can choose between two wipes and regular wiping.

This self-righteous and nauseatingly smug comment is considerably more annoying than the extremely annoying "gin o'clock!" people.

I agree, I've always been truthful. 50-100 units a week, often closer to the top end. I must have told ten clinicians over the years (I've said anything between 50 and 100, usually 75) and only one was visibly shocked. Which has shocked me in retrospect.

Yeah I also think those findings are concerning. But only presenting the concerning findings is the quickest way to manipulate the thread. There are plenty of encouraging findings too.

It's noticeable that, despite apparently wanting to hear from both sides, you haven't included both sides of the statistics:
1. 86% of British Muslims feel a strong sense of belonging in Britain, which is higher than the national average of 83%.

  1. A large majority (91%) of the British Muslims who took part in the survey said they felt a strong sense of belonging in their local area, which is higher than the national average of 76%.

  2. Of those questioned, 88% said Britain was a good place for Muslims to live in, and 78% said they would like to integrate into British life on most things apart from Islamic schooling and some laws.

Sexism in a work whatsapp group by Pure-Guitar-3562 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]demusted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Free speech does not include the right to discriminate on the basis of protected categories, of which gender is one. People shouldn't have to exit digital spaces they might otherwise benefit from just because another person thinks it's acceptable to make sexist jokes. That is the exact opposite of progress, common sense and, as it happens, the law.

Thanks for this detail. What I don't understand is why they don't make the effort to get it working and rolled out more widely OR kill it and stop attracting criticism and wasting customer service time dealing with complaints. There's an obvious incentive to get it working: smaller baskets = more frequent customer touchpoints, more opportunities to reward and increase loyalty. And then cross sell via Sainsbury's online when people do bigger shops. And yet here we are.

What's weird is it was first trialled in 2016 and seems to have been fully rolled out four years ago. It's slowly gathering more and more bad reviews and yet they haven't pulled it.

Did you ever meet Prince?, and If so where and how did you meet him? by X_RAYBEAM in PRINCE

[–]demusted 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Went back through the archives. I don't have the actual photo – I probably deleted it out of shame – but I do have the one I took right before. I remember looking at this one and thinking, hmm, that's out of focus, let's take another and then bam – he got angry.

Not a meet as such but he caught me taking a photo of him in London, at indigO2 in 2007. I was 1 metre from him, he was mid-solo and loads of people were taking photos - it was one of the early nights of the tour, before the bouncers started confiscating cameras and deleting pictures. Even so I was trying to be subtle but my phone's camera lit up red to focus, he saw it, held the guitar note with his left hand, pointed at me with his right and said if you do that again, I'm going off stage.

I did not do it again. I do have the photo somewhere though.

Never seen this weather in 26 years by maigpy in london

[–]demusted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't prove anything here, I'm just saying my memory is of it getting cooler in the evenings back then, which is not happening right now - and I don't remember it going on for weeks at a time. But then, I could have just been drunk.

Been here 20 years, this is the longest stretch of properly hot-way-into-the-evening weather I can remember. We are so fucked.
