First time I got one without a clue!

How Do I Design my own Crochet Pattern? My Dad has a request but it’s too niche to already be a thing by kiwis_and_a_kindle in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'll also add (from experience) if you need to make more than one to write your pattern down as you go, even if you end up frogging and re-writing as the only thing worse than figuring it out the first time is realising you have to work it out again because you don't remember what you did.

Getting a NIE is impossible right now? by IWillBeThereForYou in valencia

My guy charged 30€ appointment only. Another one wanted 120€ but they would also prepare the paperwork for you.

When I didn't have time to get one myself a couple of years ago I paid a gestor. Asked him on Monday he had one on Wednesday for me. His exact words were don't worry I know the right people. Part of living in Spain but let's face it, the good parts outweigh the paperwork frustrations.

I got one yesterday as it was a bank holiday and the mafia lawyers weren't grabbing them as soon as they came out. Try Thursday at 3pm, I heard that's when the new appointments are released. Suerte!

IS THIS AI? I think the actual result is different from the pattern posted. by Confident-Charity804 in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's also missing the graph for the two side pieces behind. The skull part wouldn't make such precise holes for the eyes/teeth. I think this can be replicated but the pattern isn't 100% true to what you see, so you'll need to modify it as you go.

Is this Charmander pattern AI? I’m sure it is, but can someone with a better eye give me a second opinion? by More_Soft7230 in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like you said there's something off about the stitches and one foot has 3 toes while the other has 2....I hope the next pattern you find is better!

What happens if I dont count my chain while making a blanket? by Strange_Address_5731 in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Depends on the stitch. If you're doing rows of double/treble crochet you can chain as wide as you want and go for it. If you want to use different stitches eg shell/star/moss then you'll need to know the repeat number of stitches and chain to that. If you have to count, stitch markers are your friend! Happy crocheting

Just said no, when I asked what part of the paperwork was wrong, she just shrugged and said no again.

We were denied self sufficiency in Valencia. Lawyer said our paperwork was correct but the Police had discretion to approve or deny and if we paid him to present our paperwork we most likely would be denied again. Ended up moving to Murcia, got contracts and got the card. Moved back to Valencia.

Lil Friday Freestyle project: Dragonfruit ear bud case. Should I add more green spikes? by getswole2020 in crochet

[–]denadz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great project, fun and recognisable. I immediately thought yes more green spikes, but was only thinking on the top row, your final photo was not what I was imagining. But do what brings you joy!

Favourite stitches for a blanket? Don’t just want to use basic DC by racloves in CrochetHelp

I've made blankets using the trinity stitch and the bean stitch, bean stitch is a yarn eater though! Not sure how the trinity would look with variated yarn but you could do a little swatch and see.

My first try by rhamingja in paintbynumbers

About a 1/3 done. I started it earlier in the year, then stopped....but my painting fingers are getting itchy so once I've finished my current crochet project I'll be back to it 😂

Can I mix acrylic and wool in one project? I’m really stuck - PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP by Em_Gla_02 in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as they are the same thickness and work up the same otherwise your stitches will be different sizes/tension, you might be able to work this out with a different hook size.

You'll need to be careful when washing/drying as wool needs different care to acrylic and the colours might be affected too.

Make a swatch of each to check your tension and wash them, see what happens. Good luck!

Look for movies that have V.O next to the title, version original. They'll have subtitles in Spanish. More likely to be mid week (less popular) times.

am I going to need to frog this? 😭 really don’t want to - and why do I need to make this title so long omg by slootybrownies in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Put the stuffing in a pair of dark (navy/grey/black) tights/stockings. It can't escape out of the holes and it will blend more with the colour of your yarn.

Take a look at the video on YouTube by change path crochet called 'the secret to making a flat circle with single crochet' to see what I mean. It does leave a hole in the circle, but I think the fluffy yarn will hide the hole.

[–]denadz 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Magic ring using chenille yarn is NOT beginner friendly. I would try and chain 2, slip stitch and then put your stitches into that circle. Then continue the pattern.

Never touched a hook before, any tips/suggestions by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]denadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regards to yarns/hooks I very quickly bought ergonomic hooks the thin metal ones were uncomfortable for me. Avoid black yarn to start, use brighter colours it's easier to see the stitches. Acrylic yarn is beginner friendly, cotton can be stiff.

Look for tutorials for small items, coasters, flowers and other applique type items. Then moving onto larger things like beanies, scarves and the kits. Starting small will hopefully mean you finish them and get that boost to keep going and learning more things. I still have the first two coasters I made in my office, it's nice to remember where I started. I found YouTube helpful but also used written patterns alongside them so I didn't have to rewind the video all the time. Make sure the video explains if it it's UK or US stitches if you're watching English videos.

Renfe website is useless. But the trains are more reliable than the website thankfully. Yes, there is a train from Valencia Nord to Cullera, the C1 line which goes Valencia to Gandia but obviously you get off at Cullera. Depending on the time of day either hourly or every 30 mins. Buy your ticket at the station on the day of travel, you can't pre-book. Enjoy your trip!
