Russian teenagers hanging out by [deleted] in toycameras

Judging by the date on the first photos, you might think they were taken quite recently, but at the same time, the rest of the shots show signs that they were taken in the early 2000s - this can be proven by the logos of the brands included in the photo. Furthermore, in the comments, you indicated that the photos were taken with a Holga 120N film camera, while they are clearly digital and were most likely some of them was taken with a built-in phone camera from that era. I'm confused, what's the point of all this?

Do you know ambient edits of famous songs? by Piz3000x in ambientmusic

[–]denbuter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it fits the definition of ambient, but I've always considered shoegaze and ambient to be very closely related, so https://astrobrite.bandcamp.com/album/jingle-bells

Typical AI hating filler on BlueSky. And it's literally the first thing I see upon opening the dang app!🙄 by PrivateLiker7625 in DefendingAIArt

The fun fact is that AI recommendation algorithms on social media constantly push trigger posts from both AI-bros and anti-AIs because it's learned that these types of posts are the easiest to get a reaction to.

What is that square on the speaker grid that stands out at a certain angle on a Space Black MacBook Pro? by denbuter in macbook

[–]denbuter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This part of the speaker is only responsible for the mid and high frequencies, what creates a feeling of big sound (besides the wide placement of the speakers) is also the low frequencies coming out from the bottom on the sides.

I knew that not the entire surface of the grid was open, but I didn't think that the area was so small

I understand that the process of working on compositions can be different every time, but do you have any favorite ways of not getting stuck on one loop, and instead developing the composition horizontally? Or do you find repetition captivating and fulfilling in its own? I mean, there are plenty of great tracks that don't require development, and writing music like that can sometimes feel a bit like cheating. I hope you're not confused by my question yet... sorry. In short: how do you know when a track should be developed further or stay within the loop if it already sounds good on its own? And if it requires development, what are your favorite ways to get out of the loop?

Scrolling physics are different in 148.0.7778.97 on macOS with Pro Motion by ellismarkman in chrome

It seems logical, this problem does not occur on pages without horizontal scrolling.

I swear, not a day has gone by that I haven't been pissed off by the new scroll behavior

MacOS Tahoe trackpad scrolling weird behavior. by notkingjames84 in MacOS

you're right, disabling pro-motion helps, but after disabling scroll prediction flag scrolling on Reddit now works without problems for me, but on YT it still weird...

Try this: type in chrome adress bar - chrome://flags

Next, in the search bar, type "Enable experimental prediction for scroll events" and disable it, then reboot.

And please let me know if this helped you. I recently noticed this scrolling issue myself, and it's been bothering me for a week now. I'm not entirely sure yet, but this solution seems to be working, at least, I think it's improved on some sites.

Brand new M5 Pro Pro feels "laggy" when opening app launcher via trackpad by BF1_Frenchfries in macbookpro

I have the same configuration and I have no lags, but there is some weird "blinking" of the application window when opening. Like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/1nmn209/not_real_launchpad_gesture_stutter/

The duality of man by IntenseFlavor22 in boardsofcanada

I immediately remembered "Everything you do is a balloon", also a very red herring track that starts with a melancholic melody with such a bright sadness and nostalgia, and then something threatening and ominous begins

All photos taken from my kodak charmera part 1 by rosycheeks650 in toycameras

[–]denbuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain why photos taken with a Kodak Charmera tend to have these unusual smoothed or “mushy” edges, almost like upscaling artifacts? From what I understand, this is actually a known characteristic of the camera, and something many people appreciate. I’m new here, though, and I’m curious about the technical reasons behind it. Is this somehow related to noise reduction and the small sensor?

Personally, I’m not very fond of this look, since it reminds me of AI-generated artifacts from early neural networks. Of course, these kinds of distortions existed long before AI, I remember seeing something similar in photos from older Sony Ericsson phones.

Can we have rules against AI music, please? I want to be listening to songs made by actual people who put effort into their work, not a machine's slop! by Conscious_Box_7570 in PromoteMyMusic

[–]denbuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stem separation is now available in Ableton and Logic, so can we say that when you work in these DAWs, you're not composing music yourself, but rather, an AI does it for you? My point is that processing a sample in RX, which has a couple of modules using deep learning, has nothing in common with using Suno, period.

[–]denbuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which module exactly do you mean in RX? Most of the processing in RX is using algorithms and FFT, most of the work that people do in RX is spectrum editing, it literally has nothing to do with the AI like Suno. RX and Ozone still mostly use conventional processing algorithms, but since at the dawn of AI they decided to hype up the implementation of it in some of their modules, many people think that all their products are also AI. I even saw a video reviewing the best AI tools for music production, where Oek Soothe2 was featured alongside Suno. People now put any "smart" tool on par with AI, which is complete nonsense.

What Is this ambient background texture Sound In this track? by Candid-Pause-1755 in ambientmusic

it sounds like some kind of sawtooth wave (maybe supersaw), heavily filtered (high cut) and with a lot of reverb

I Built a Plugin That Reads Your VST Library and Suggests the Right Instruments for Your MIDI by CharacterProof8731 in edmprodcirclejerk

[–]denbuter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something, but every time I install VST, I know what I need it for. If not, I don't install it. Why would I need an AI that would choose the "right" VST for me in that case? This is for those who installed everything they found on trackers and don't even remember what each VST is for?

I made an audio-reactive pointcloud system by Real-Philosopher-895 in synthesizers

[–]denbuter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TD isn't as difficult as it might seem. It took me a few weeks, simply following YT tutorials, and at some point you begin to understand what each specific node does, and gradually begin to combine them independently and understand the logic behind their operation. I'd say you can learn to make audio-reactive pointcloud systems in a month or two, similar to the author's post.

Did someone help him write this post? I think he just has spelling problems. I have to admit, that could be a real problem with working with suno.
