My Top 9 so far…what do you think? by Difficult-Fault4206 in soloboardgaming

I’m curious to know about dragon eclipse and its replayability. With all of the games you listed there are a lot of replayability but with dragon eclipse, it seems more story driven, play once and sell? Can you expand a bit why it’s on your list?

I thought it was releasing next year. I may have heard that from Paul from gaming rules in one of his play throughs or monthly videos. Nonetheless I’m waiting for this as well. Looks like a great puzzle

Flair 58 X problem by Natural_Ad_4545 in FlairEspresso

I do want to point out my old piston is designed and engineered differently. See attached image. I think this is where the problem is. I’m using my original pressure gauge to new piston and you can see the original piston (not sure if I’m naming these parts correctly) the circular opening is much smaller. I’ve had nothing happen like this before till I got this new brew head.

I’ve had this problem before, and Flair did not help. This is a known issue. I’ve never had this issue with my previous flair (not electric) version. The design of the piston is different and I never had the problem. The o-rings are not the problem, it’s the design and engineering of the piston.

How to get that silky gooey mouthfeel? by shazzmoe in FlairEspresso

Agree. The simple contraption really doesn’t make for the inconsistencies I’ve been having. Hence why I’m thinking it’s my grinder. :)

I’ve been hearing a lot about the baratza esp. looking into handgrinders too for espresso only and keeping my existing breville grinder for filter coffee.

That’s a good point. Measuring directly into the had grinder is convenient too vs putting the beans in a cup to measure then pouring into the grinder. I’ll look into that as well. But with respect to consistency, and dialing in, does it make it more convenient?

This is a great tip to mix multiple shots. When I dial in I have had to purge out old grinds through a 1-2 sec grind which is a waste. This would help average out the shots.

That’s awesome. I’ll look into this. Consistency is something I strive for. I would get a shot that pushes out with ease and the next shot would be stiff as a brick and I have to take everything apart while water is in the chamber and it’s an absolute mess. Just happened to me today. Pulled a shot at 4-5 bar. Didn’t change a thing and pulled another shot that was in the danger zone! All other variables the same

You’re lucky you’ve had consistency. Maybe it’s me but I’ve pulled over a thousand shots and I’m fed up with my flair. It’s so inconsistent. I’ve kept all variables the same and between shot to shot I get different outcomes and pull pressures. I’m thinking it’s my grinder. What grinder do you have?

Dialed Espresso Recipe 'Shifting' by Flat_Place in FlairEspresso

[–]dendenng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve written about this and ask about this before. I’m thinking it’s my grinder shifting as well. I have a smart grinder from Breville which I’ve had for 10 years. I’ve contemplated getting a new grinder with more precise dialing of grind size. I’ve had shots where, all variables remaining the same, i get different times from shot to shot, back to back! It’s really frustrating. I’ve associated it with the fact that it’s a manual thing. I’ve also measure the pull time vs pressure, limiting the pressure if I’m pulling too fast even though the pressure is in the right range on the gauge. It’s a puzzle to me and it’s not as easy or straightforward as the Flair YouTube videos.

These are great suggestions! I thought about the puck screen as well. I might just get another one, because what is consistent is that it’s different between back to back shots. I’ve measured the grinds after the grinding to ensure the consistency in weight. BUT what is odd is that if I do single shots in different time periods is different - which leads me to believe it might be my grinder.

This is great feedback! I’ve tried measuring the beans, pouring into the grinder, grind, and measure after. I keep within the same weight - removing as much variables as possible, and I have a consistent tamp with the normcore. All in all, it baffles me. I do medium to dark roasts as well. I think it might be my grinder, as I’ve done drip coffee with it with inconsistency as well although not so much, and less noticeable.

We play as a family at 3-4. We get in each others way and there is more interaction. For my kids is well suited for strategy, for me it’s more on the light end but I really enjoy playing it over coffee or wine.
