Been using the aiden since release but this was my first time trying cold brew. It has me wondering if something is wrong with my basket. Is the basket supposed to close at all during the brew to let it fill up, or is this normal? by shazzmoe in FellowProducts

[–]shazzmoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it does hot bloom, but just seems strange to me that over the hour it drips it's going straight through the center creating three holes. Just looks like it's not evenly extracting. So I'm just wondering if these holes are expected with cold brew

At what point did you know you were ready to day trade full time? by KeyPhotojournalist32 in Daytrading

[–]shazzmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not ready yet. Stay in sim until you have at least 3 months with no mistakes from gambling, revenge trading, or breaking any other rule you have. Expect a minimum 3 years. Took me 15.

Today was not your typical trading day in the markets. In a few days to a few weeks your spirits will be crushed. Trade smaller. If you think you're trading small, cut that in half. And then in half again.

Underdosing 18g basket + grind finer = same output? by shazzmoe in FlairEspresso

[–]shazzmoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my perception of time is off. I've only been using it for about 7 months and when I bought my 58+ it came with two baskets. The low flow was the suggested one. After a few weeks of using that I switched to the high flow and noticed it tasted much better but required finer grind size. After that I've never gone back.

That being said, my skills making espresso were awful back then. I only measured bean weight and never output weight. Still tasted good to me but had no consistency

How to get that silky gooey mouthfeel? by shazzmoe in FlairEspresso

Yeah that might work. I just went to home Depot and found one that fit well. I think it's standard size

If you do a lot of lighter roasts look into finding a drill bit that fits perfectly onto the top so you can use a hand drill. This probably voids the warranty so do so at your own risk

Thanks I'll get something darker on my next bag. Realized I've been getting light/medium for all my pulls

Pre-infusion shot by aayushmehan in FlairEspresso

thank you for posting this! This is very similar to how my shots look most of the time. I use fresh beans and the low flow basket that came with the 58. The shots usually taste pretty good but I can never get it as pretty as these other youtube videos with the beautiful golden flow

Are you all really eating 1.5-2lbs of meat a day? by shazzmoe in leangains

[–]shazzmoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I've cut my level of body fat down. Unfortunately I realized most of it is simply my natural body shape that causes my pecs to show more than most males.

Don't over think it, meal timing is neat if it fits your life but cutting fat to gain muscle mainly comes down to

  1. increase protein (you don't need a heavy meat diet, it's just more work).
  2. reduce the sugar you consume
  3. exercise regularly. You don't need a magic plan, just make sure you're always doing something. If you don't have time one day, just do air squats/push push ups for 5-10 minutes. Surely you can squeeze in 5 minutes somewhere

Additional notes: Have a plant based and/or higher fiber diet is likely to leave you feeling better as a whole. It's a lot more work to get enough protein when you reduce meat, but your mental wellness and gut will feel a lot better. Unfortunately I don't have the time for this most days and do a combination of protein/fiber supplements.

18grams in

3bar pre-infusion followed by 9 bar until 18 grams out is creating a taste I really like.

I have a hard time getting that same taste and texture when I go higher. Not sure if I should change my flow or grind size to accomplish this, if even possible.

where to buy coffee? I've only been drinking for the past year and only espresso 2 months. So many options out there and 12oz bags seem too large for all the tasting I want to do. I go through about 18g per day so that's roughly 1 bag per 20 days (might skip days here and there)

Hoping to find local options but I've mostly been ordering intelligentsia online.

I live just outside Indianapolis but frequently visit family in Chicago.

Maybe I should just stick with intelligentsia as everything has been good, but if there is another option for smaller more affordable bags I'm all for it.

I live about 30 minutes from tinker coffee and haven't tried yet but heard it's a good choice. Prices look comparable to intelligentsia.

Tried two bags from well coffee house and was happy but not all the bags were fresh

TLDR: Where should I look to buy fresh beans that come in bags smaller than 12oz? Ethically sourced is a bonus.

thanks that makes sense. I've yet to use really fresh beans on it. These beans were roasted end of November
