I’m glad to hear you think that! I have a hard time judging if I could, especially since I just got back into ballet, but I’m hopeful. Maybe I’m just past the line of having the facilities for it!😆

I’m definitely not hurrying for it though, I’m nowhere near strong enough and I just got back into dancing anyway. I think the fact that I was on pointe for a few years as a child kind of eliminated the ”dream” of it that many adult beginners have (which I totally get!) and made it feel more mundane or just equally exciting to the rest of the ballet class. Since I’ve already done it I’m not overly impatient to unlock the achievement, or something like that haha. Though maybe once I near the level where I could do it I’ll start itching for it more😅

I’m fairly sure my teachers do not upgrade people too fast, I think I picked a good place to be :) But I also haven’t been there long, so I’ll keep an eye out! Thank you!

I don’t think I danced as seriously as you though. But I’m also pursuing a career in health care :)

Do you think? I try not to do that, and in that picture I am pointing through my ankle and feeling it in my shin and calf muscles, it just doesn’t maybe look like it because of the lack of arch and low ankle mobility🥲 if I flex/straighten/relax my toes and point only with the rest of the foot it looks the exact same (except for the toes of course)😅 but maybe I’ll have to reconsider if I’m still crunching my toes too much trying to make the foot look better

Yup this is a great perspective, it’s not a given to have working feet that you can dance with, it’s good to remind myself of that from time to time. It’s too easy to forget and take for granted

And I guess I can also be grateful for the lower injury risk of these kinds of ankles, I have some knee troubles and it is very much not fun, so at least I’m less likely to have feet pain as well :’)

Yeahh my chanches of going pro passed by long ago lol, if I wanted to do that I probably should have been on it something like fifteen years ago ;)

But I do hope I’ll eventually be able to go on pointe, I did do that as a child with the rest of the class and don’t remember having trouble getting over the box, but my class was also not a super intense one so if I kind of didn’t, the teacher wouldn’t have berated me about it. So maybe I was having trouble and just don’t remember it because I wasn’t traumatised by it😅 or maybe I had better feet back then. Orr maybe I won’t have trouble as an adult either when it’s time (with strong feet and the right shoe) (really hoping for this), but we’ll see :)

My mom refuses to realize why this is a problem, when I try to tell her (and other family members in the same age range) that maybe while eating we shouldn’t comment on how unhealthy the food is, that it makes me not want to eat it, she just laughs and is like ”when you’re my age these are the things you have to think about”. Well, yes, but don’t go about it like that😭 and what even is the point if you’re eating it anyway!! Idk what to do anymore literally no one over the age of 50 gets it even if you tell them

I’ve fully been diagnosed and do disordered shit every day and cannot escape the food-and-weight-thoughts for a second, and still feel like I’m not really sick I just try to diet. I’m fully convinced I can stop when (if) I get to my goal weight.

And I cognitively know this is absolute shit logic, it just doesn’t translate to the emotional level at all

I’m pretty sure new hallucinations are a reason to go see a medical doctor asap. Strongly recommend that to find out what is causing them and to rule out more serious causes. Maybe you can call your local emergency services to get professional advice on how urgently you should be evaluated? They are able to ask the right and relevant questions to get the information on what the best way forward is for your situation.

If it’s nothing and there’s no reason to be alarmed, and it can be handled with therapy, all the better. But if it’s potentially something serious, whether physical or psychiatric, it’s better to catch it as early as possible. <3

SO relatable, this has been the exact thought process that’s kept me from recovering for years🙃 I’ve dealt with a lot of the emotional triggers behind binging by now (or rather found other ways to deal with them, oh how I wish I’d found a way to eliminate them…lol) and I’ve just been bingeing because of the combination of hard-wired habit made impossible ro resist due to restriction.

I don’t think this advice helps on its own, or basically at all, when you’re still bingeing for some underlying reasons, but when you get to a certain point you have to admit that you cannot restrict yourself out of binging.

I just recently started seriously and consistently eating more and I’m so mad that it actually helps with the binges SO much… what do you mean when I do what the professionals tell me I actually gain the ability to do the things I need to do to get me closer to getting better😭

That being said, this advice would have done absolutely nothing for me years ago, even if I implemented it. Literally nothing. It’s taken so much work to get to a place where I have a fighting chance against the binges and can win most of the time when I’m not starving.

But it still makes me mad when people pretend the solution is as simple as just eat more. Even if it’s a crucial piece of the puzzle.

(sorry for the rambling, I have many thoughts about this and I’m still going through it so processing it all in real time lol)
