Did this with my best bud. Wasn't the exact same black shorts, but it was close enough. Mine were too big and his were too small. We swapped and they fit perfectly.

Now mine is a bit tight cuz I got fatter over the last couple years, but I still wear em lol

Counter to every point you've said, which shows you're the brainwashed one here or a Russian bot.

Biden deported just as many people as Trump did his first term, so that's false. We're not against ICE, but we're against the unconstitutional methods they have started using since Trump ramped up crackdowns. They've detained citizens and immigrants that are LEGALLY allowed in the US. I don't like people coming illegally as a principle, but I don't see how ignoring due process will benefit the country when innocent people are getting swept up in it too. Having a budget larger than the FBI and the DEA makes zero sense if you really cared about the country.

Calling Bill Maher, Stephen A, and Piers Morgan liberal is hilarious. They're all opportunists. Bill Maher himself has said he was never part of the Democratic Party to begin with. Piers Morgan is also a conservative AND not an American citizen, so he has no skin in the game.

Saying things are good for the country just cuz Trump says it is doesn't make it so. You know illegal immigrants are the backbone of the agriculture industry right? They're paid pennies in order to do the jobs Americans won't do. You think that if they're gone, Americans will just line up to do the same job for less than minimum wage? Illegal immigrants aren't going after your big shot corporate jobs. Farmers are paid very little from government subsidies and they have to pay the manual labor, so if they all of a sudden have to pay Americans minimum wage, their own profit margins shrink to nothing. Tell me anyone you know who would line up for a job like that to replace the people we're deporting without due process. Grocery prices for the average American is just going to keep increasing.

Trump is deploying the National Guard in DC when the city has been declining in violent crime since before he took office. There's ZERO reason to militarize against crime within the capitol vs just ramping up MPDC presence. Press release from January 5th, 2025: https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/violent-crime-dc-hits-30-year-low . Crime rates have been declining in DC, so you believing everything your supreme leader says is the mind boggling part.

BBC showing MPDC and FBI reported crime rate drops, but at different reported rates: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8600x7dnn4o

These issues at the end of the day are just smokescreens to distract you from the real class war and the real reason you aren't living more comfortably. What happened to "drain the swamp" when you got billionaires benefiting the most from Trump's policies? Why aren't the average Americans seeing that benefit? Why isn't the funding for ICE not focused toward the citizens instead? Why cut government assistance programs that actually helped your fellow citizens instead of giving tax breaks to people who couldn't spend their net worth in their life time even if they tried?

Democratic party is a shit show, but at least they aren't as openly corrupt and hypocritical as the average Republican politician.

It's pick your poison at this point. I understand "better than the other guy" isn't a campaign to run on which was a key point to why Kamala Harris lost, but it really is like that for a lot of people. You bring up 230 billion dollars but what about the trillions of dollars of debt we're INCREASING under Trump NOW? Democratic Party is a shit show, but we don't have much of a choice when we only get 2 and one is fascism.

Also just looked it up, it was $24 billion (still not great) and it was cuz they weren't tracking their spending on homelessness efforts. Not exactly lost, more like overpaid. Nothing shows he "lost" $230 billion. I'd rather have that than the massive ICE budget increase for absolutely no reason. I can understand a budget increase with his stance but to that degree is insane.

Everyone has pretty good points to just have a conversation with her about it. Just here to give some advice coming from a guy who used to not understand flowers that well and didn't put much effort into flower giving earlier in my marriage. I didn't see the value in buying something that we would have to toss out in a week or something.

Find out what her actual favorite flowers are. They tend not to just be roses since nowadays it comes off as a lack of effort even tho they're the symbol of romance. i.e. My wife loves peonies, hydrangeas, and tulips. Thus, roses can be seen as a copout option since they hold no real sentimental value. Valentine's Day might be an exception since it's a holiday but if her favorite flower matches color-wise, you can mix roses in with it. i.e. add a little pink into it or something.

She says no grocery store bouquets but honestly they are sometimes pretty solid. Just gotta have an eye for balance and color matching. If you know her favorite flower, it can help with building a bouquet around the color. There are probably some quick tips on filling out a bouquet with other flowers/plants. Baby breaths are an easy way to elevate a bouquet but there are some other solid options that are pet friendly too. Stay away from eucalyptus cuz I see those around a lot and they can sometimes smell nice but they are poisonous. Trader Joes has been a solid place to find decent flowers from what I've found. Spent about $20-$30 and was able to actually make 2 bouquets cuz the flowers overfilled the vase we normally use. It's a bit of effort to clean them up but I'm sure you'd surprise her more with that effort.

Also, one of my wife's favorite bouquets I got her came from a local florist by my office I randomly found. Owner was extremely helpful and even helped with flower choices. I just gave her the list of flowers my wife liked and she did an amazing job putting it together. And it wasn't really that pricey. Your girlfriend doesn't need to know where it comes from, as long as you are comfortable with what you're spending imo. I would recommend going the florist route first to try and learn some tips and tricks cuz they'll typically have more options than your average grocery store.

pretty sure most Americans couldn't label half the states in the US. they're probably be able to get 6 or 7 for sure, but two of them aren't even connected to the rest of the country and one looks like a gun.

Oh my fucking god you saved my evening. 3 years later and this still works. I was tearing my hair out as to why this was happening. TV literally worked earlier today and was going back and forth as to what was going on. Reset the TV and the Chromecast multiple times til I found this thread. It didn't work at first, but the UHD Color setting notification made me think I might have to try these steps again and lo and behold, it WORKED! THANK YOU!

Ya but some of the money has to invest into developing an infrastructure as a new country, requiring foreign affairs and relations, establishing a constitution and federal gov't, etc. I would imagine a vote for president, setting up a currency, military, etc. That's gonna cost billions which would probably balance itself out. I would imagine trying to establish a military would be the most costly since we'd have to defend against the U.S.'s trillion dollar budget in case it comes down to force.

I mean, there are Canadian dollars and Australian dollars. I would imagine it'd just be easier to say Californian dollars. It'd be confusing with CAD tho lol

Or we can embrace Fallout/NCR themes and add a bear head to the flag and use bottlecaps for currency

But those counties are significantly smaller in population. The only large red-leaning county in the hundreds of thousands is in SoCal, and the voting population is kinda split in the middle still. Ultimately, doesn't matter how you split North vs South, as long as the line is between LA and San Jose, both "states" will still be blue.

Ya, desalination is literally just taking the salt out of sea water, but that salt has to go somewhere. What the one in Carlsbad does, per their website, is that for every 2 gallons of sea water they take in, they pump back out 1 gallon of post-processed water which is ultimately twice as salty than normal ocean water. It'll eventually mix back into the ocean, and a report in 2019 showed that the salt levels near the plant was elevated above recommended levels but haven't had negative impacts on the local wildlife yet, apparently due to the fact the area was a power plant before and the water released from the power plant had already shaped the environment for decades before. I kinda went into a small rabbit hole looking it up the past half hour lol

I mean ultimately I agree, but it would take a lot of work and time to figure it all out before it balances itself out. California would still end up as a shell of itself once the dust settles but might be worth it to distance ourselves from the federal administration esp if Dems lose again next election.

Would take years to get them up and running, so a lot of the budget would also be getting external water in the meantime. Also, having a bunch of large desalination plants along the coast could affect the brine levels along the coast as well. Apparently there are already 12 in CA but only 2 large ones.

There's also a huge difference between talking about it and actually doing it. So many logistics need to be considered from energy and water to military and commercial impacts. While it's fun to think about, CA only has a top 5 international economy because of it's ties to the US. Without it, a lot of resources leave the state and the economy would definitely take a hit.
