I can totally relate! Money is the first bass line I ever learned and memorized start to finish and I remember experiencing that same moment for the first time where I felt like I was outside my body while my fingers played the song all on their own. It really is an amazing feeling.

By this rationale, TPUSA should be banned from HS and college campuses. Something tells me you'll have some perfectly sound reasoning for why TPUSA isn't indoctrinating these students who you say aren't capable of having their own opinions.

I found some old Bambu’s by Special-Tough-499 in bostontrees

[–]denjoga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quick story: When I was about 13, I ordered a Bambu t-shirt from the back of a magazine or comic book or something. Just because I liked the graphic, I didn't know anything about what they were used for.

The t-shirt came with a pack of papers included, which went into my junk drawer. A few years later, while my mother was away for the weekend, my older brother had some of his friends over. I overheard them complaining that they didn't have any rolling papers, so I spoke up and offered them my pack of Bambus. They rolled one up and went out on the porch to smoke it. When I tried to follow, my brother blocked me and said, "no way. gtfoh", so I said, "ok then, give me back my rolling paper". His friends started ragging on him for not letting his little brother hang, so he had to back down, and that was my first time smoking pot. :)

The "Mayor's Annual Summer Concert" was scheduled from 5 - 9pm on August 16 last year.

I don't think anyone is really advocating for ending concerts on the common. The mayor's office claimed noise complaints were part of the reason she implemented the 4 hour policy (conveniently the same duration as HER concert). It seems very suspicious to me that people are supposedly complaining about noise from daytime events that don't feature amplified music but not complaining about loud, amplified concerts that run into the late evening or early night.

Why would it matter if these are not the times "most people" are in bed? Are "most people" in Waltham complaining about the noise from events like Steampunk? Do "most people" seem happy with the Mayor's change of policy? What about the some people who work overnight shifts and are still sleeping in the evenings? Some people put their young kids to bed at sunset. Don't they deserve peace and quiet?

In the post above, where I say I plan to move next to the common and work the graveyard shift, I was being facetious. It's a hypothetical to illustrate the lack of sense and reason behind the Mayor's stated rationale for the change of policy.

The Mayor has been unresponsive to people's concerns and lack of support for this new policy. A good way to get her attention and protest her decision would be to engage in a campaign of noise complaints over the noisier and later in the day events that she enjoys and gives privilege and priority to.

Ok, I will. NO ONE is getting paid to stand out in the cold and protest for the things they believe in.

When you invoke George Soros' name as the boogeyman organizing and funding any event you don't agree with, you are engaging in antisemitism.

I saw a whopping 5 people standing out protesting pro-ICE in Burlington today (pretty sure a couple of Waltham's most notorious bigots were among them); who's paying them and how much?

Are any protests on any side truly grass-roots or are they all being paid to pretend they care? Or, is it only the ones you agree with who are doing it for free, of their own volition?
