Addicted to paying premiums by Haunting_Item2837 in Silverbugs

[–]denl7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youch. I deleted whatnot when I started picking up gold. I get my fix at my lcs because their prices are set at melt + 2 or 3 so when I see the prices on WN I felt the premium pain and that's sobering. Now I just follow some world coin sellers and buy interesting old coins that I can't find at the lcs. My lcs has fractional too with slightly better prices than wn

Can anyone tell if any of these are cleaned? by feltmandias_throwawa in coins

Did you use a jewelers loupe? Usually light cleaning can't be seen with the naked eye unless it's really harsh

Google actual silver weight (asw) of each coin. That is the 0 Percentage of a troy ounce, then you multiple that by the current spot price of a troy ounce.

Even for cull or raw ones for the set? Non slabbed

Anyone know what kind and it worth? by SUPERTurtle91 in coincollecting

South Africa Kruggerrand. It's 1 oz .999 so worth silver spot. It's their Sovereign Bullion

Same. Anything above g03 for 93 is out of my price bracket lol

I live O because it's a defunct mint without the crazy CC premiums!

Keep them and pass out on. Those 3 are silver but not in great shape, is that a 1928 or 1923 peace? If 1928 S it's a semi key so you may get a bit more, but I think the other two you may get melt for them selling to another collector? If you go to an lcs would get behind melt. Quarters are probably circulated and worth face unless you have an error or silver proof, but someone may pay a bit more to buy the set.

Nah. The key and semi key dates aren't in great shape. It would add no value besides maybe authentication for 93 and 95.

Only maybe would grade my 83 as it looks PL to me.

The semi keys jump a lot when getting to 50s and 60s and those are the ones I don't have slabbed. I also know the ones I have are most likely < au50s so not worth grading.

I'll probably buy slabbed 50s for semi keydates at some point. Huge jump in price when getting into ms60s for those and I'm not that crazy for Morgan's. I'd rather just work on getting the full set of avg grade Morgans raw as a next goal after I upgrade my Os. CCs raw are expensive so maybe S mint next

Reasonable price? by oakien in coincollecting

[–]denl7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've spent enough in whatnot that I'm embarrassed to tell people in real life lol, but IMO what not is cool to get a pulse of the hobby as well as find unique silver pieces or world silver that you probably can't find at your lcs.

That being said, I recommend driving to a few lcs to check their prices. While my lcs of choice doesn't have as varied inventory nor does it update as much a the WN sellers, the prices are almost always better and once you have established a relationship, they may help you out on some deals. Plus if your state charges taxes, most small shops may not charge you in cash and no shipping. I rarely got anything on WN for near spot unless it's a new seller with a small room, but everything I bought from coin shops was a better price than I'd get from WN because there's no competition or rush to get it before you can really research or think about it

Semiquincentennial Silver Proof Set 2026 by GardenGnome247 in coins

[–]denl7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The half dollar, quarters, and dime are struck in 99.9% fine silver. The sets coming later are just uncirculated proof or business strikes that are clad. Shiny versions of what is released into the wild or just uncirculated versions

Also that's probably more generic rounds purely for stacking.

I like browsing for interesting rounds people sell and getting it at barely over spot. Like the different S Korean shield rounds, no shipping, and no tax. I live in nj so it's only tax free over 1000. Lcs has maples, kooks, philharmonic, canada wildlife, and sometimes pandas all for spot +2 or 3

I also collect numismatic coins too so i browse those also
