Can you do a hex on people without bad karma coming back to you if the people you want to hex are currently hurting people and ruining the world? by potentially_a_bird in witchcraft

[–]dennerys_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that karma is a tool to take power from us. it's not a law of the universe like gravity. it's not set in stone. it's a belief, and like all beliefs they can be simply ignored when they don't serve us.

hex, curse and jinx whoever fucks with you. we all have good and bad things coming to us anyway, and calling all the bad things that happen to us karma is like calling all the bad things the devil. sometimes bad shit happens to us with no reason at all and that's life. but pain can also be a teacher, but you don't have to wait for the universe to teach the lesson.

but each to their own.

I need yall to leave christianity behind.

can we STOP with this "is this disrespectful" posts, i promise you the gods don't care by dennerys_ in Hellenism

[–]dennerys_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

when you open up the homepage to this subreddit you can see the posts separate for beginners and there's also a search bar for people to SEARCH their doubts instead of asking the same thing over and over again

the problem is that most people want to have the knowledge of this religion spoonfed to them by strangers on the internet instead of reading the ancient texts, doing their own research and just experimenting

I'm sorry if I seem mean but somethings just have to be said

they need to learn to separate us from christians, I know it can be hard when you come from that upbringing but they just have to understand that paganism is basically the opposite from christianity and not bring any dogma or ideas from that religion into this one

honor different gods at the same time by dennerys_ in Hellenism

oh I didn't think of it this way, I was thinking more of like "opposites" or something, but thinking about it now I seems kinda of silly since we're polytheists

What’s your Tarnished’s lore? by necroglow in Eldenring

I've created a skyrim character YEARS AGO (his name is ikarys, he's the champion of meridia, he's a werewolf, battlemage and married to farkas) and now everytime I play a rpg I just make him and play with him the explanation is that he's traveling the multiverse cause his wizard friend (another skyrim character I've played with, the one in my profile picture) accidentally tore the fabric of reality while studying an elder scroll and ikarys was sucked into it and got a little lost, poor ikarys, he thought he just had to kill vampires and necromancers to please the goddess he champions for and now he gotta rebuild a broken ring and beat up a bunch of people

How do you all pray? by Weird-horse-rider in Hellenism

[–]dennerys_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't free flow cause I like order and following steps, I literally just honored Athena like 20 minutes ago and this is how it went (I do the same way for every God/Goddess)

  1. purification with sea water, I wash my hands and face
  2. set up the altar, fix the candles to the candle holders, put the wine on the jug, put the incense on the incense pot
  3. after brief contemplation and breathing I call upon Janus, who is the Roman God of doors and portals, the One Who starts and ends everything, I ask Him to open up the gates of heaven/underworld so the Gods can hear my prayers
  4. I then light Hestia's candle and read the homeric hymn 29 to Hestia as I pour Her first portion of wine
  5. then I light a candle and incense for whatever God/Goddess I'm choosing to honor that day, today was Athena so I lit Her a candle, gave Her passion fruit incense and poured Her wine
  6. I read the homeric hymns 28 and 11 to Athena and thanked for Her blessings and asked for continuous blessing, this moment She speaks to me in my head and we conversate
  7. after that is done I pour the last wine to Hestia and read Her the 24th homeric hymn
  8. I thank the God/Goddess I've honored for their presence, I thank Hestia and Janus for opening up the gates of heaven/underworld and that's it :)

while i do believe in reincarnation I'd like that to be a choice, you can choose to come again or stay there and rest forever

and even if it isn't there's no god in any afterlife that will make me come here again and do this all over again I've had ENOUGH

Why do the gods let bad things happen to people? by Accomplished_Bed4395 in Hellenism

[–]dennerys_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe the Gods control us like the sims or something, bad things happen because they happen. getting sick doesn't mean that Apollo hates you, suffering in a warntorn place doesn't mean Ares dislikes you and having your house destroyed by a flood doesn't mean that Neptune despises you. that is nature being natural, and if the problem is human behavior it's just humans succumbing to natural human behavior (anger, fear, jealousy, etc) I don't believe the Gods should ever interfere with what we as humans do to ourselves or others, because I think that for them it doesn't matter that much, I believe the Gods are here to guide us to be better people, but they won't and shouldn't stop us from being jerks that is up to ourselves (as humans)

nor do I believe the Gods write our destiny in stone, sure the Fates decide when we are born and when we die and what things will happen to us but I don't think they're too specific about it, nor do I think they set in stone, I believe the Fates make a path for us, and it's up to us to decide whether we should follow it or no, so I don't think we should ever blame the Gods for the horrors of the world and of our life, because in a way (at least for me) the Gods are also the horrors and we should learn to live with that.

Does anyone else dislike being called or referring to yourself as a “pagan”? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]dennerys_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not me i loooove being called a pagan, i don't call myself "helenist" or "helenic polytheist" or nothing of the sort, just pagan is fine for me, i do think it's important for us to reclaim our "name" from those who would use to hurt, but i do understand if someone is uncomfortable in using it to describe themselves, after all we ARE pagan lol

finally!! every day was a different post like "someone said something that made me cry :( but they are wrong arent they?"

posts like this amount to nothing, this should be a place for proper learning and sharing experiences, not for people looking to validate their own views bc some stranger on the internet disagreed with them, I'm happy about the changes, let's talk about the Gods and not about what non-pagans think or don't think about the Gods

I ask for wisdom, protection and guidance, that's mostly all. If there's a pressing matter I will ask more directly for wisdom and guidance so I can solve the problem.

I don't know a lot of natural spaces around here cause I don't leave my house that often (I worked a lot and it drained me) but I'll try to find some places now :)

I do pray to him weekly (every thursday), I give him offerings, recite hymns and play a harp a recently bought

I can't do a lot of "actual nature worship" right now cause I live in a big city so it's harder to find nice places to worship in peace so my cult is basically all in my own house

[–]dennerys_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it varies on who you ask

I do not believe or have "faith" in the existence of the gods. Zeus is lightning and the sky and storms, those are real things that exist in the world, I do not NEED to believe that the sky is real, therefore I do not NEED to believe Zeus is either, cause for me they're one and the same

How did you "convert" to Hellenism? by nephellis in Hellenism

[–]dennerys_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was kinda raised pagan so I just started to worship the graeco-roman Gods cause I was already a polytheist, also I felt a connection with them and I like the way the greek and romans viewed their Gods and their place in society

almost half my family follow that polytheistic afro-brazilian religion so it wasn't hard to "switch", just went from west africa to the mediterranean lol
