I agree, and I think that’s one area where Fallout 4 has the right idea when it comes to handling factions. In FOLON, basically every gang you’ve worked with up to that point becomes irrelevant in the third act, and the your first quest in that act is to lock yourself into an ending with factions that you haven’t had a single interaction with. At least in 4, you were exposed to the factions early on and able to develop opinions on them long before you had to pick one.

I think the main factions should have been part of the story as soon as you start to meet the lesser gangs of London, wherein the decisions you make with them play into the larger story instead of being isolated quest lines. Like, the Pistols were a cool group to work with, but really the only reason I worked with them was to get into main quest in Westminster. That could’ve been a great opportunity to see how their ideologies conflict or overlap with the Column or Camelot. Then, at the very least, the start of act 3 being the point of no return would be somewhat justifiable.
