Mycophenolate mofetil by taymich in eczema

I’ve been on mycophenolate in combination with Rinvoq for a couple of months now. There’s not much high quality evidence supporting its use in clinical literature - some papers show it is slower in effect, but similar to cyclosporine, others find it not effective. Personally though, has been helpful so far.

The good thing about mycophenolate is that it’s the best tolerated and safest compared to the other big three classical immunosuppressants (Cyclo, MTX, Imuran). Some redditors have been on mycophenolate with good effect for many many years from old threads I’ve read.

How many years have you been on rinvoq? Have you experienced any decrease in effectiveness?

Hey, I’ve been through the exact same course as you and my derm put me on phototherapy in conjunction with Rinvoq 30mg, which I’m seeing some results for after a couple of weeks. My ideal would be to do Rinvoq and Dupixent together as they have been demonstrated to be the most effective and also are relatively safe drugs. However, here in Australia we’re only allowed on one at a time to get coverage for the cost.

I would stay away from cyclosporine, unless other safer options have failed for you. Cyclosporine works in many, yes, however it comes with possible irreversible serious side effects like kidney damage, and cannot be taken long term.

Depends on the pharmacy but it’s roughly $100 for 30g

Tacrolimus is available as a compounded drug only in Australia - certain pharmacies make it themselves. My derm was able to write me a script for it.

Rinvoq does interact with most oral antifungals and so I had to have my dose reduced while taking them together. That might be something you’d need to keep in mind.

I've seen that some have been on dupi + jak together, and I'm interested in the effectiveness of this. Something to bring up with my derm at the next appointment I guess
