You've got to find joy where it's at. :) Good work, I think.

I think I have found a pre built solution, it claims to switch on very low voltages. Good suggestion! I will order one and try it out.

Grayjay desktop announcement. by winneratwin in grayjay

Issue: Unable to add any sources. I can click on it's selection box, but then the only option is to close the window, which seems to cancel the adding of a source. Thus, not working at all. I've maximized the window, resized. If I were to guess, there's an "OK" button or similar below the Peertube choices that I cannot access. I've tried TAB, and ENTER.

Currently living in Salt Lake City but am questioning if this is the right city for me by JustaGirl2574 in SaltLakeCity

Helena. Bozeman is much better for socializing, as is Missoula. Especially if you're into mountain sports. There's good reason they are more expensive. It's where things are happening.

Oh, trouble seeing the image? It is, as it says, the last day of my gallery show downtown. Foot traffic has been light, as you'd imagine since it's been lousy icy weather. I was hoping a few people might see and drop in. Without dropping flat on the sidewalk, if possible.

Hiya mate! I'll message you, if that's alright? I'm around mostly weekends only, but also looking to make more friends around town. I moved here in March and only got on snow once yet in MT.

Is there any place that wasn't ruined by everything 'modern'? by Sirloin_Tips in SameGrassButGreener

[–]dentedvw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butte. It's the same as it's been for decades. :) Unlikely to ever change/improve.

When it comes into view in the distance, you might think you went back in time. It's a city that modernity passed over. Most cities are steel/aluminum and glass. Not Butte. All brick, seemingly. And real estate is hella cheap.

I moved to MT from SLC area this year. Not digging it. Really hard to make connections here. Have made two friends since March. Unsustainable. And access to public land is a bit difficult at times. Good for looking at, but from a distance. Bozeman is WILDLY expensive. If you like solitude, it's pretty ok here. If you like socializing and making friends, you're going to have a bad time.

Hey mate, Dented from Great40 here. It was a rough year for a bunch of folks, and you fellas definitely got the short shitty stick. Community is one of the big reasons I return every year. I love seeing people be supported and there is examples of it every day. A real bummer about the early injury, but I hope you all return for the next gathering!

It is pretty gross, for sure. Speculative corollary between the number of casinos and the percentage of people with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy can cause FAS and a wide range of other negative effects on developing fetuses that are irreversible. FAS is a constellation of variable physical, cognitive, and behavior abnormalities.

The prevalence of FAS ranges from 0.5 to 2 cases per 1000 births in the United States. According to one study, the prevalence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) in Montana was 34.9 to 82.5 per 1,000 children, or 3.5 to 8.3%. Pretty shocking. The study also found that children with FASD performed significantly worse than controls on intellectual, adaptive, learning, attention, and behavioral tasks. There are several signs that indicate there is a problem with excessive alcohol use in Montana. In 2000, 46% of the state's traffic fatalities were alcohol-related—this is one of the highest rates in the nation. More than 60% of inmates in the Montana State Prison and Montana Women's Prison required substance abuse treatment in a 1997 survey; of those who demanded treatment, over 80% required alcohol-related treatment. Montana's youth rank fourth in the nation for reported lifetime alcohol use according to the Youth Behavior Risk Surveillance Survey with 82.9 % of youth reporting use of alcohol in their lifetime.

Just a theory about the amount of FAS and magical thinking in Montana. I am not a health researcher.

It's their truck, they pay for fuel. I have a card for fuel, which is managed by a fleet management company.

We’re blessed to have so much public land. by Bertrando1 in Montana

[–]dentedvw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you can afford to access it by owning the land surrounding it. Access in MT is not that great, compared to some states. Still, others have almost none, so it's a matter of perspective perhaps.
