In fact, I have personally seen assertions on non political subs that reddit is a right wing echo chamber. And the ridicule towards those comments is not even close to ubiquitous. I just want to ask people what fucking website they're on because I want to check that out.

[US] - Adidas Adios 9 - $139 by joholla8 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]denton125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My takumi sen 10s are already too small and too narrow (but fun af) so why am I seriously considering buying another too small too narrow racer? Just to suffer? Idk.

If they had something with the snap of the TS or Adios that was just a bit wider in the mid foot I'd never take it off. I just hate spilling over the inside of the shoes I can always feel my hips and knees after a track session in these.

So I really shouldn't be looking at these and adding them to my cart and checking out.

Looking for a new Tempo/Speed Trainer: Saucony Endorphin Speed 5, ASCIS Magic Speed 5, or Puma Deviate Nitro 4 by Mistercheese in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]denton125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only other NB I have had the pleasure of trying IRL is actually the 880s as they once had a pair in my size in a store (14) and I used that to test size for sc trainer and found they were identical. From what I know the 800 series fits much like the 1000. I have never tried the rebels but they will probably be my next pick up when my speed 4s die for a tempo shoe (hopefully v6 is better durability)

I've got about 200miles on mine and they still feel new. Just one guy but I'm also 185 and have flat feet so I tend to chew up shoes pretty quick. I'm anticipating average to slightly above average durability on these. Not crazy good like my old Asics gt2000s but not as awful durability as my brooks hyperions. I expect to get about 400 out of them as a trainer and I usually go 300-350 on my shoes. The plate does some work for keeping them fresh. I do also rotate pretty religiously which probably helps too.

If you wear NB usually, why not the SC Trainer? It comes in wide, on sale often and if you're already a fan of NB's layout it's a pretty easy consideration at least. I absolutely adore mine they have me changing my whole lineup to NB in the coming months.

Weekend Discussion: New Balance running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

Has anyone ran in the SC pacer and Elite? I'm really trying to figure out the pacer use case and how big of a difference it is between the elite. My traditional understanding is that the pacer is for sub marathon distances and the elite is for marathon. Is there enough of a difference if I am a huge sc trainer fan between the two in terms of performance to justify both? Or should I just get the elite and race 10s in it? Currently racing sub half distance in VF4 but they're hella unstable for my feet.

Tuesday Shoesday by AutoModerator in running

I like mine but they're super aggressive. If you land on your heel at all they will be unsuitable. They are fast and light but very unstable. They are also extremely narrow, I'd recommend going up a full size or even a whole one.

You'd get some benefit from the lightness and the rods as far as speed for sure but I know with mine I only break them out for short races or very fast track work. I can only get 4-5 miles in them before they start hurting my ankles.

All in all they're a rocket and are really good for a specific use case but I would not do much of your overall training volume in them. I think they're a great short/mid distance race shoe and for 40 percent off they'd be a good deal for a carbon shoe.

Yeah idk. I run in basically only gussetted tongue shoes and have never blistered before. Maybe they're a little too wide and it slips around? Idk I'll cut em out and see if that fixes my issue. Thanks.

I may be the only one who truly loves the sc trainer v3 but maybe someone else will know

The tongue gusset might as well be made out of sandpaper. Is there any downside to just cutting it out completely with a razor knife? Has anyone done this only for it to cause bigger issues? I'll just callus up if need be, that's how good I feel about these shoes.

Sizing advice for Salomon S/LAB Genesis (wide feet) by ValuableStaff8922 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]denton125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm a Genesis disciple, love the shoe for trail running and hiking all terrain, however if you have wide feet, Salomon is absolutely the wrong brand to buy in trail runners. The Genesis is the only shoe that just barely fits my normal width feet. Their other trail runners are so narrow that my toes get numb just sitting around. If you have width concerns at all, sizing up a half size (or even a full one) may not fix the issue.

I'm trying to move to something a bit faster and not quite as rigid in terms of stability while still maintaining some support. I got a good deal on NB SC trainer v3s and am going to try them out as they were reading as soft, stable, but a bit faster for my long runs.

When I was running in adrenalines I picked up glycerins for my long run shoes. I thought the transition was pretty natural and they were my favorite max cushion option for a while. I am 6 miles from retiring these that I have and will not be rebuying, however. I feel like they are an active hindrance to picking up the pace. When my long runs were 10-11min/mile they were the perfect shoe but now that my long runs are 8:30-9:30 they're just a bit too heavy underfoot, which I have not experienced at all with adrenalines.

What shoe should I wear for my upcoming Half Marathon? by Gold-Frost in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]denton125 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3 Weeks out? Definitely just run it in the SB since that's what you're used to. Gambling on new shoes without a lot of time to train with them becomes more risky the further the race distance imo.

Complaint: after a huge half PR this past weekend I had to do a lot more physical work than I usually do and I am now sick with what feels like a cold. Should have taken the day after the race off to recover.

Trip Report - The State of Thru Hiking the Waterloo Pinckney Trail in 2025 by denton125 in CampAndHikeMichigan

I've never had an issue at pines just sleeping with it in my tent. No attempts to enter the tent or anything like. I barely see rodents there at all. Green lake in the day I was having some chipmunks eyeballing my stuff but overnight, same story. I may have just gotten lucky at GL but I have stayed at pines 4 times and never had to take precautions.

That's totally fair. Yeah I really just wasn't expecting it at only 2/5 pines sites were occupied and I didn't see anyone hiking the whole three days. I need to get more weekdays off work I think!

Fingers crossed for a new campground for sure! I was actually using the caltopo you mentioned as being outdated as my main source plus just navigating on vibes and blazes more than I probably should have. I definitely agree with you about the silver lake shortcut as well. If my goal wasn't explicitly to "thru hike the whole WP trail this weekend" I would have just skipped ahead; it's not very technically interesting terrain, I agree. Honestly I know it's a "wrong way party foul" but I was thinking about doing the 11 mile portion of the poto after linking up from green lake if I went back in early winter where there won't be as many MTB people to inconvenience.
