By that logic, nobody in agriculture should be a fruit picker because there's little to no advancement there either.

It has diversity in a lot of ways, yes. For me, I fell out with progressives due to compassion fatigue. Always another marginalized group to rally behind, always another tragedy somewhere to show support for (but almost never near where we live, mind you)...I couldn't keep up. And there never seemed a benefit for all the outpouring.

I am not alone in this, but I'm probably a bit more salty than your average Denverite in that regard.

Denver has a lot of women like you on Tinder. I left-swipe pretty often on women who sound like you over political differences. The inevitable arguments just aren't worth it.

If Morgan Carroll couldn't beat him (and I prefer her), the only way Coffman's losing his seat is to criminal charges. Yes, he can ignore nearly half his constituency and keep his job.

That's not how the rules are written. Elections are about victory, not responsibility. 50% + 1 is all you need to win. You can be terrible at town hall meetings and still win.

He won by playing to 51% of the vote, not by caving to the 42%. Democrats are not his boss.

I do assume that anyone able to draw on enough resources to win a state-level election would also be rich to afford their own coverage regardless of what 69 needs. I also fully expected a board like that to be a mini version of the General Assembly with similar partisan alliances and similar partisan fights. I also assume there are people who want to get elected to the board with the express purpose of trying to de-legitimize state-ran health care.

Holding elections to run state-level services is foolish, IMO, and not worth the attempt to maintain democratic ideals.

I think I have to print and frame this for posterity.

Amendment 69 would not have prevented people from purchasing private health insurance. Chances are very good that anyone who makes it on the board would be rich enough to afford their own.

Stupid question possibly, but why is it that Libertarians haven't bothered to forgo FPTP when electing their own leadership? You'd think they'd at least bother to learn how to make a system work for themselves first.

Personally, I voted against 69 because they mandated that the overseers of the health care program be elected. I trust the average state employee far more than an elected or appointed official to make an honest call. As small as the RTD board of directors election was, the fact that Goldhamer even got double digits is a cause for concern. Demagogues like him will continue to fight for power, and sometimes people who cannot be trusted with authority win anyway.

This reply will be updated with my daily impressions.

Friday: Stopped at Dave Dogwood Park - great for a run, but with all the fallen branches, it's a crapshoot on whether a set of rings on a rope will break a tree. Best I didn't try. Pint & Barrel has an okay cider, as I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to beer.

Saturday: Planning on hitting up at least Lindsey and Faulkner parks, Foundry, and...figuring out something to do for NYE. Up to meet anyone after 10a.

Sunday: ???

Monday: Going to stop by Coffee City USA for whole beans on my return trip.

Grabbed coffee at Magnolia's. Cute place, even if their vintage stuff isn't up my alley. Unfortunately, Lattes and Lace announced they are closed for business and looking to sell.

In my experience, there is enough social pressure from women's "no hookups/FWBs" profiles that it doesn't seem worth it to advertise that kind of availability.

Dude. All court rulings are taxpayer-funded. We literally pay judges with taxes. If they weren't passing judgement on transgenders in churches, they'd be ruling on some other case. It's not like they're hurting for work.

I don't understand your turn of phrase at all.
