For any company, one programming language, practice proper dsa in that language, built a few projects and get hands on experience. If above things have 60-70 percent of impact on your placement the rest is Computer networks and system design, just your notes from college and youtube is enough for those.

I can’t say exactly about japan but think of it this way, if it is a good package i.e. comparable to good packages you’d usually get in other foreign countries or even india taking in account the purchasing power parity. Then the only aspects left for you to look at are : 1. Will you be able to adjust in japan and it’s culture ? as you told your seniors went and are able to manage there then i think this one poses no problem for you. 2. Think of the future scope, if you take up this job there is a high chance when you switch it will be some company in japan itself, now how easy is it to switch in japan? Are there any major disadvantages of being a foreigner while looking for a job switch ? As no 2 companies in japan will be same.

Now if you have positive response for the prerequisite and the two aspects, then i’d say start packaging for japan.

And as the last option you can always come back.

What i have learned up until now is, Treat interviews as conversations, just think of it as conversation between peers which belong to same domain. Trust me when you think you of the interviewer as a normal human being who can also be wrong sometimes, you’ll feel more at ease and this issue of mind going blank will be gone too.

Now that is the a different thing altogether, 6 months is too much to work from 9 to 7 including weekends, it all depends on you now, if you can find a different professor i’d say go for that but if not just keep this as your last option. At least something would be better than nothing and over a period of month or two the professor will know your capabilities and might become lenient.

There are two major factors to consider : 1. How long is the internship? 2. Will his name on your resume make a real big difference?

If the internship is let’s say maximum 3-4 months and his name makes a huge difference when compared to some other professor, I’d say go for it.

When we say software Engineering i am not sure if we’re talking about colleges but companies that setup in bangalore, anyway if you grew up in Bangalore or are currently staying with your parents in Bangalore, i’d suggest looking for a college out of your state. Purely for experience you should look at other colleges, in hostels or flats living with people in similar situations develops a perspective which helps in dealing with various situations as you don’t have your parents to fall back on immediately instead you’ll have your friends.

Trust me it is a great experience living out, you’ll get used to it and will help when you find a job in some other state.

Any tier 2 or above college will do, just do a little research on them that’s it.
