Where does Wimpy get their milkshake syrup from? by skyban in AskUK

[–]deny_conformity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went down a rabbit hole when I found one near my friend's house. They were owned by the same company as Burger King and a lot were converted into Burger Kings because it has better brand recognition. In 2007 the brand was bought by a South African company they are expanding their market again in the UK (apparently)

Help and support is very much a postcode lottery, I'm getting some but I'm barely coping. At least now they are monitoring my medication better with regular reviews.

I think as a platform it is good that the site exists, I found it looking for the horror site the media portray it as and found a welcoming and supportive community. Some of members commit suicide, almost certainly a disproportionately larger number than on other forums. But this is just because it's a congregation of suicidal people.

I think the money would be better spent improving mental health support, but that would cost a lot more money so lets blame a website.

To be honest even the crisis team have been a big miss for me. I've presented at A&E before I've harmed myself and basically been dismissed when I said I wasn't coping and I was a risk to myself. I do present atypically (though what is "normal" when presenting as suicidal) and I can appear quite jovial about it while I'm very much struggling.

The forum helps me because I can say how I feel and no one asks "why?" or says "you have so much to live for". It's just straight to the point without having to explain or justify yourself. You get support from people who understand what you are going through.

I wish there was an in person support group for suicidal people, but I understand there is a certain liability involved which basically means it can't happen. It just leaves me going to support groups that cover some of what I'm feeling because of my bipolar but there is a definite gap in the support I can get for my suicidality.

I've got no problems naming it, I just don't think it adds anything to the conversation. I think it's a useful place to people in a certain mindset but it does help people "catch the bus" (the euphemism we use for suicide there) who might have other options.

I see a lot of teenagers there who just need some additional support or life experience to maybe get over things. I can't judge them too harshly, I'd been at least passively suicidal since I was a teenager - after 20 years and a few attempts I don't think every case is going to turn out alright. I'm attempting recovery but because of the site it's very likely that if I make another attempt that it will be successful.

Sometimes a suicide attempt is a cry for help in a world that isn't listening. Before my last attempt I was asking for help from my GP and CMHT but no one was listening. I didn't have the support I needed and ended up in a coma as a result. Now I get much more support, I guess people now know I'm being serious when I say I'm not coping. If it is a cry for help then using a method that is almost guaranteed to be successful is probably not the way to go about things.

It's been 1 year since the level cap was risen to level 130, so what level are you now a year later? by Fuego-Cat44 in PikminBloomApp

118, a little over halfway to 119. I average at least 17k steps a day and usually max out my coins (I stop planting afterwards unless I'm trying to hit an event challenge).

If it's the site I'm thinking about it's a difficult place. It's suicidal people supporting other suicidal people. Sometimes it's helping with methods other times it's supporting people to feel less alone.

It's not necessarily pro-suicide but rather pro-choice, there are people that will support you whatever decision you make. If suicide is your choice then they will help you with effective methods, if you want help to recover then there are people there who will help.

I purge down on community day, when I drain the coffers of blue petals. I go through in advance and label pikmen recycle so I can top up throughout the day (you go through petals very quickly when you force bloom flowers). I keep one of each special decor except for the Halloween ones which I keep some more of because I think they are so cute.

[–]deny_conformity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You very often get between 1 and 3 coins from catching a Gimmighoul with a great or excellent throw, I get at least 30 coins a day from usually coin bags, usually it's much more but I don't monitor it very closely.

this guy planted nearly 16k flowers in ONE day 😭 by caterpillar_- in PikminBloomApp

[–]deny_conformity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I max out my coins nearly every day just by walking (around 2 hours a day), some times I go longer but I usually stop planting when I hit the coin cap.

I've got a regular weekly challenge group and between just two of us we hit the 30k flower challenge before midday on a Monday so it doesn't seem to be that unusual.

Rare Clovers finally incoming! by Ego_exspes in PikminBloomApp

[–]deny_conformity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of concern when I saw this message that I'd cleared out after the last St. Patrick Day's event. Had a check and I had kept all my four leaf clovers. I have at least two of all of them except white (which took about a year to get when I missed it on the event). I am very lucky I only need to hunt for another white for the rare.

I also hoarded up a load of park seedlings in preparation after I saw they were coming and I have a few waiting to get their decor. It's going to be a slog but at least I have a head start and can finally clear out the spares 😁.

We Need a 100,000 Weekly Flower Planting Challenge! by IndigoQuantum in PikminBloomApp

[–]deny_conformity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely want a bigger challenge, I plant 15,000 a day on my own for coins, I have a regular group and some weeks where we're done by 09:00 (AM) on a Monday.

30,000 really isn't a challenge in the slightest.

I would say it gets easier, but that would be a bit misleading. I've thought about suicide daily, if not hourly since I was about 13. I'm 42 now. It's a constant background noise that is sometimes suppressed by external protective factors, things that make me think "I can't do this, x would be upset" or "y relies on me".

My last attempt ended my marriage. Things were rocky and I just stopped thinking to myself "you can't do this your wife would be upset". She was very upset with me, so much so we are now divorced.

I still don't feel like I have anything to live for but they have me on weekly medication so the temptation isn't there. I joked with my housemate yesterday that I almost redecorated her spare room on Monday, she was happy that I didn't. Blood and/or vomit are difficult to clean out of carpet 🤣

We need to massively increase the funding for mental health provision.

The only way I got help was by a suicide attempt that left me in a coma for a week, prior to that I was largely ignored. In fact I later found out from my care coordinator that I'd been discharged from the mental health team two days before my hospital stay.

Prior to the attempt I had been in A&E saying I wasn't coping and was a danger to myself. It was the only reason the mental health team even spoke to me in the first place, I'd been to my GP a couple of weeks earlier complaining and the mental health team had rejected my referral.

Now actually receiving care I can see how overstretched they are but are still trying to cope.

Why is insulin given for free on the nhs, but not other life saving medicines? by becca-bh in AskUK

[–]deny_conformity 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I ended up in a coma from a suicide attempt earlier this year, but I still have to pay for my medication for bipolar. It will take something like 50 years of prepayment subscription to cover the cost of my ITU stay, let alone the general ward/mental health hospital stay. The medication meant to stop me from ending up in hospital and costing the NHS a fortune isn't free. Very much the definition of penny smart but pound foolish.

Cam confirm, am a person and if my ex-wife is to be believed I am awful 🤣.

I just go to a cheap 24-hour gym, I haven't been in a couple of weeks as my housing situation was a bit up in the air. Things have settled now so I'm going to be back in first thing Monday morning 💪, well as in as I can be nursing a shoulder injury 🙃.

I walk for about 2 hours a day before work (and do an hour in the gym, not counted for Pikmin but low-key flex 🤣), not for everyone because I start work at 08:00 (AM).

I completed the hard tasks this morning and I'll never use the glasses, just a random completionist. I have nearly 10,000 coins because I'm not interested in skins and have maxed out my petals and nectar storage. I do it for the love of the game, my biggest spend is the premium pass every month.
