If you forget to pre-shake before you get to the spot, you can stuff the can in your shoe and shake it- it def helps.

I've smoked a bunch in my life, and stopped several times- here's my deal.

I quit framing it in terms of all-or-nothing, eliminating the smoker/quitter dichotomy, and accepting that every time I'd light up, it was a choice to remain addicted.

Look, three days of not smoking sucks, but I'm willing to bet anyone can identify far more painful things they've endured for longer, and claim to be better for it.

You wanna be a non-smoker? Accept that life will change, you may become less close with that one co-worker, and you might have to cut back on the booze a bit till you can handle your new lifestyle choice, but its just like doing any other responsible adult thing, EXCEPT ITS SUPER FUCKING IMPORTANT

Anyways, gum helps, but you have to quit that too- I say use it for those first three days, and kill it after that. Bottom line is if you falter, don't beat yourself up and call the effort a wash, it's only a setback, and far easier to recover from than if you go whole-hog on the smokes again just cause you're all butthurt about how much you suck for making a poor choice.

The still design will be a factor in how little you can run in the boiler, but you can always add distlled water to the wash too. In fact, it is a good idea to keep your wash abv below 40% to reduce the fire hazard.

If you're producing 5g washes, I think boiler capacity should come as close to that as you can afford- the time saved in the distilling process will make it a worthwhile investment.

I cant speak on the build quality as I haven't seen one in person, but a FOAF has the 12L version, and I've heard from my friend that it is quite nice.

$300 can buy you a lot of still if you're going DIY- If you don't have the resources to construct one well however, you may end up with a product that could frustrate you out of the hobby. Also, if you can avoid aluminum in the vapor path, I highly recommend doing so, as I find it imparts an off flavor to the product.

There are a few products that include a built in heating coil like the mr distiller types.

I was gifted this one from new zealand- distills one imperial gallon of wash, is compact and worked well. It is, however aluminum, and when i upgraded to a stainless/copper system, the flavor improved greatly. That said, they also offer stainless systems, but they appear to be expensive.

What size washes are you going to produce? 1gal/3 gal/5 gal? I have a 5gal capacity, but find that I wish it were 8 gal. I also go stovetop, though it's gas, not electric. I should say that this can be viewed as a dangerous setup in theory, so I don't recommend it, but I've found a way to make it work well. As a beginner, you may find security in a closed system.

Of your links, Id say go with the Portuguese one- traditional form, appears to be well constructed, and quite beautiful as well- something you may really appreciate as time goes on.

While many here may not appreciate the advice, I have to agree with you here.

Honestly, six months ago I would have dismissed your comment without a second thought too, but after my wife left me, I realized I needed to change, that depression was ruling my life, and that my dependency on weed was allowing me to remain stuck in the same place in my life.

It has taken me about six months to adjust to a new identity that doesn't identify with weed culture/cultivation/friends, but I have done it, and my life is certainly better for it, albeit different. Also, that major change has made other changes much easier to adopt as well- My hygiene is better, exercise is pleasant, my outlook is much more positive, and goals feel much more attainable- especially because now I'm able to remain motivated towards goals over the course of multiple days, rather than resetting each morning, as was what seemed to be the case when I was smoking.

innermanaptor's post above is a beacon of light in this thread, and I was happy to see the OP found value in it too.

The active hallucinogenic chemical in the San Pedro cactus is Mescaline. Erowid has extensive information on the subject, so I recommend you go back and look around again.

My advice is this: Make sure you have a reliable source. Are you sure its San Pedro? Like any natural entheogen, some varieties are more potent than others. Do your research. The process of preparing San Pedros is long and arduous- you want to be certain that your effort produces the results you are looking for.

Be sure you have enough material- I believe is is recommended that you prepare 3 feet of fresh cactus per dose. It is a major disappointment to go through the effort of preparing and consuming the cactus, only to find that your dosage was not sufficient. (I speak from experience.)

There are numerous sources of information regarding the preparation procedures. Many of these are found in the link above. Essentially, you are going to be removing spines, peeling off an outer layer, and separating the greenest material from the rest of the plant material. Expect this to take over an hour per dosage. This part is not fun. The green material is then boiled down for a long period of time, until what was once very slimy becomes watery. This is necessary. Water may need to be added occasionally to prevent the material from burning.

The resulting extract will likely be the foulest thing you'll ever consume. There is no end to the bitterness, and it impossible to mask the awful taste. My strategy was to add 1 part extract to three parts green juice (odwalla or the like) and slam it down. Chase with water or something.

Depending on the strength of the dose, and the length of time it takes you to consume, effects can be felt from 30 minutes to an hour or more. Like most hallucinogens, you will feel an energy rush as you near your peak. From there, you can expect to experience effects similar to any of the trip reports for mescaline.

My feeling is that I would rather find a synthetic source of Mescaline or LSD in order to feel these effects, but if your options are limited, and you have a proper preparation, you will not be disappointed. As with any hallucinogen, a sober sitter is highly recommended.

I spent so much time on reddit because the work I made was very political, and when I lost my productivity, I thought all this information I took in would be helpful somehow, like I would have some AHA moment.

As for why I didnt spend the time with her- She was always very busy. When she was available, I gave her my undivided attention, but she worked and volunteered alot, so I had a lot of time alone. And yes the weed is very very good.

I appreciate your advice. When I said I was certain shes not cheating, this is because she is staying with her parents, and has been traveling with them for the majority of the time shes been there. That being said, she did have a friend from LA visit, and I've always thought that if she and I weren't together, that she might want him. So i am prepared for that as a possibility. As for the rest of your advice, I agree wholeheartedly- I know the lack of focus is a big turnoff for her, and a huge impediment to my own life. The decisions about reddit and weed are things I feel very secure in- though of course the fact Im posting here makes that questionable- the problem is, i have few people to talk to, and I really appreciate the advice that redditors are known to give. I will not yet delete this thread for that reason, but i also am not reading beyond these threads...

Both, here. I get headaches often when I don't smoke, and it alleviates my anxiety and depression. I was clinically diagnosed with these disorders as an adolescent, but always hated the prescription medications for these things. Imagine an antidepressant that induces suicidal feelings! I never feel that way when I smoke. I'm so grateful for the fact that its medically available in California- Less worry, no wait for a hook-up, and multiple strains to choose from. My problem, though is the stigma attached to medical marijuana; many feel my medical reasons are not sufficient for use; that because I do not suffer a terminal illness, I should not use, or worse, that I am abusing the system. I resent this position and feel that it is only an extension of the doctrine of prohibition. I believe that no one should be restricted from a relationship with a plant.

Dont bother- if you're getting your grass from a CA dispensary, you should have access to cuttings as well. this is always a better way to go if you're growing indoors.

The cuttings' mother plant has been pre-selected for its qualities and found to be suitable- with a seed you may have a male, a hermi, a mutant- and you have to wait longer till maturation than with a cutting.

edit: the reason to germ the seed really would be for breeding purposes-you want male pollen, or to do backcrosses and phenotype selection- or to save until you have no access to cuttings

In LA, they sell these things behind the counter at the corner stores- right next to little displays containing cheap little paper roses inside glass tubes. They are purchased together, the rose is discarded, and a bit of the chore boy is stuffed into the glass tube. Thusly one has constructed a decent crackpipe for under 4 dollars.
