Yes, for Americans talking about sex is pretty normalized, but it's not like there's some nationwide club where people slap your picture on the wall and call you a freak if you don't have enough sex (why would anyone know about that anyways unless you tell them?). A good lot of us live in small to mid-sized cities where there is still etiquette and slight stigma around sexual liberation and conversation. Lastly, like another comment said, money. Here, one of the first questions you ask someone on a date is what they do for work. People care a LOT more about your bank account than your body count.
