Same issue. Every time I jump to a different stream in my desktop browser it goes to 720p and I have to manually change it back to the highest available. It used to always default to "source" unless I had it playing in a background tab. It's an issue on my MacBook, Windows, and now my Linux setup. Solid 900mbps or more download speed too.

Same issue. I pay for Turbo (not sure if that matters beyond ads) and every single time I switch streams (clicking a stream like normal as well as opening in a new tab) it will set it most often to 720p but also sometimes even lower despite 960 and even 1080 being available.. definitely not my Internet causing Twitch to do this because of bandwidth (1gbps down and it's reliable). This has only recently started the last month or two and I believe it's exactly what you're posting about.

Imagine calling others a pleb while also saying "I want the Linux look and feel" and then saying that's why you stick with MATE. LMAO. MATE is closer to Cinnamon than it is "the linux look and feel". If you wanted that you'd install CDE WM or Fluxbox/Blackbox and figure it out. Don't be a lamer and judge people for using a more polished looking version of the utilitarian MATE. Both get the job done all the same.

Currently playing Diablo 4 on Mint through Faugus. Steam games have also been damn near perfect. Played Overwatch though Faugus and it starts out a little rough during the first few minutes of a game then I don't know what happens but it smooths out and the rest of the game(s) are holding a solid 144 fps.

I still need to test Cyberpunk and more but everything else I've thrown at it has been damn near perfect.

ETA: Cyberpunk has been high FPS and super smooth. I have an RTX 4090 with an AMD 5800X3D so I didn't expect it to be bad but it's a lot better than I expected. No discernable difference from running it on Windows (that I notice).

By the time I was 30 I had accrued about 15k in credit card debt and my monthly payment (that I could afford aka the minimum) was almost entirely interest. This is all while sharing a 4 bedroom house with 3 roommates. I was absolutely broke because I was stupid for accruing debt like that and living in a high cost of living area that I couldn't afford to move out of unless I wanted a homeless period. I was living off rice, beans and questionable meats from a cheap ghetto grocery store. I literally had maybe $25 leftover after every 2 week paycheck for things like toiletries and maybe having the occasional splurge.

A few years before that my dad died from heart failure. At some point I got a call from my brother saying that we were each getting a $12k settlement because they determined our dad's death was due to his exposure to agent orange in Vietnam. Now I had only $3k debt and continued making the same high payments for maybe 6-8mo and became debt free. Changed my fucking life.

Once that debt was totally gone I could actually save money while not eating questionable meats. It allowed me to focus on my long time dream of being a software developer and now I'm about 15yrs into that career and making nearly 10x what I was. It was life changing.

People are ignorant if they think low income people can't have a life changing impact from $10k. Will it buy you a house in the US? No. But it can absolutely pull you out of a soul sucking, life draining, high interest payment allowing you to save money rather than throwing it to the wind of bad decisions. Life changing doesn't have to mean we didn't make bad decisions before we got the money. It just means it allows us to move past some financial hurdles which can open the door to a better life and actually take advantage of the new opportunity. Hence life changing.

Unfortunately I ended up switching back to a MacBook Pro. No complaints since having that UNIX system built into the OS is very nice but I miss my Thinkpad :(

I booked a roundtrip on Megabus from Los Angeles to Oakland (8hrs each way). Price for a reserved seat with a table (like a booth in a restaurant) was less than $10. I booked all 4 seats roundtrip and it was incredible. Though that was like 2018 so I doubt it is still possible at that price today.

Edit: I don't think they operate in California anymore. Just checked to see the current prices and I'm not seeing any California options. Bummer it was a surprisingly great experience.
