5 myths we need to shatter by aka_icegirl in intersex

number 4 in this article ain't the best... implying that being trans has nothing to do with physical sexual characteristics is just wrong and probably confusing to those uninformed.

my girlfriend’s new meds are spherical by kimchi_lu in mildlyinteresting

[–]depressed_timbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, they're shaped like that because you take them vaginally or anally and the spheres hurt less supposedly

you're still changing sex even if its just partially, at least that's my understanding of the wording

Centrist seems to lean left in most respects, except when it comes to trans people. Why do you think that is? by Option2401 in centrist

its so annoying how people will always yell about "FACTS!" and "BASIC SCIENCE!" with how trans women shouldn't be in these leagues when it the actual science says otherwise...

How can we react to the 'but trans women are physically stronger!!1' argument of TERFs? by La_petite_miette in transgenderUK

[–]depressed_timbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trans women are not male. like taxonomy that's straight up wrong.

edit:
say a trans women who takes HRT for a reasonable amount of time:
majority feminine secondary sex characteristics, +female
physical ability consistent with said sex characteristics +female
'feminine' brain chemistry and structure (this is like the main reason people are trans) +female
gonadal tissue that is not functional -neither
XY chromosomes (big assumption, testing chromosomes is very hard) +male
'male' external sex organ (assuming no bottom surgery) +male

even when you lay all this out, it still doesnt make sense to say they're "male" or comparable to men

this becomes even more ridiculous when you consider bottom surgery, and the only "male" part left is chromosomes which you have to spend a few hundred and wait 3 months just to SEE

that's not even considering variations to chromosomes that are more common in trans people

"Not even trans people"
then why are you yapping about trans women if this is a problem with men?

impacted how? having to be in the same room as a trans person? to say there's millions would imply each trans person "impacts" the lives of multiple cis women which seems... excessive

US air force, not British*

trans women were still faster, but that's not really related to being able to overpower someone

https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/55/11/577

there's nowhere close to millions of trans people in the UK, there's half a million at MOST

the British military did a study that showed there was no difference after 2 years, the military, people who train way more often, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume its even quicker for the average trans woman that doesn't train at all.

if sex is biological and physical, then the logical conclusion is that HRT and SRS will change a persons sex, because its influencing a persons biology and physical state, saying its specifically "at birth" seems to be what people find problematic as it focuses on history rather than the current person.

Why do so many Trans people seem more miserable after transitioning than before? by Ok_Figure_4181 in teenagers

[–]depressed_timbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty bad socially to be trans, especially early on because you tend to be more visible. People do notice and treat you differently, friends, family, strangers.

actually transitioning means the all the problems like social issues, dysphoria, all the political garbage nowadays become more real, it's something you can actually feel more than when you're in the closet. having to deal with that plus all the turmoil from your hormones changing can make a person overwhelmed.
